First Draft Review

Lesson Materials: PowerPoint Presentation

Lesson Objectives: 1. Discuss what evidence could be appropriate for an analysis paper; 2. Complete a Peer Review For Content Organization and Rhetorical Situation

Connection to Major Paper/Project: This lesson offers the opportunity to receive feedback from an audience of peers. You have the opportunity to review your rhetorical analysis and other analyses to generate more persuasive evidence

Connection to Course Goals: This lesson will help you identify credible sources and engage with the multiple perspectives of these sources. The lesson also provides you with an opportunity to engage with one step of the writing process and value the research part of the range of (nonlinear) steps in the writing process.

Activities:

  1. Meta Analysis on Measuring Love in Romantic Relationships (Rhetorical Analysis Practice Handout): Using this handout, work in small groups and then share out based on your analysis.
  2. Draft Review Handout: We will go over the content section of the peer review handout and clarify what to look for in a partner’s paper. Ask any questions you may have about the handout. Use the peer review handout to guide peer review in class, and to guide your own revision outside of class.
  3. Use any remaining class time to implement revisions. Ask any questions you may have; otherwise, use this time for in-class writing on your research project.
