In this project, I learned the importance of simplicity and details. For the quotation project, I started out with a street art image of Banksy called “Shop Till You Drop”. Initially, I wanted to isolate the image of the falling girl, its shadow, and shopping cart. As I was fixing the image through photoshop, I realized that the image was not a strong representative of the quote I chose. I looked over my other options and came across one photo with an orphaned girl praying. The image struck me for it demonstrated the art of poverty. The street art was perfectly created with the proper color palette, but despite its perfection it represented the struggles of less fortunate children who live in the streets. The contrast between the perfection of the street art and the imperfections of life was appealing to me. For the typeface, I used Baskerville in white and in all caps. I tried to experiment on the quotation by using different colors and placements, but I realized that the I didn’t want the font to distract the image.
