Getton postcard

Georgie-Ann Getton

For the postcard project I used a photo of my son and the word “genius”. When designing the postcard I started out really simple. I was just placing his photo in different angles and adding the word right on top. After playing around with it for a while I started getting more unique and individualized with the designs. I cropped the photo in different angels, design the word differently and added shapes.

From doing the Postcard I learned that it is okay to have some fun with your design. Also it is important to design your text instead of letting the typeface design for you.

My typefaces was Baskerville Cyrillic LT Std.

Getton Gift Bag

Georgie-Ann Getton

For the Gift Bag assignment the topic I choose was Caribbeans in Tech. This topic resonated very well with me because I started a meetup group outside of school focused n getting more technology in the Caribbean as well as more Caribbeans in the tech sector. With my gift bag I decided to design it as an iPhone with a lot of Caribbean tones, such as the colors, the ocean back grounds etc.

My colors for the gift bag were primarily cool colors (Blues, greens). I used a 4-color process with CMYK. I also used a lot of tints and opacity variations on the images and text.

The typeface I used for this project was primarily Helvetica Nueve. the reason why I used this typeface was because that was the typeface that is used on the iPhone.

Through doing the Gift Bag Project I learned that creativity is King! After I created the design on Indesign I realized that this bag had to have a bit more tech in it. Which is why i used headphones as the handles. I even put some secret elements in the design such as where is should have the time and date I put the time as N:OW to represent the time is now, followed by the date being “today make a change”.

This was a fun and highly engaging project.
