Let’s Reflect
[Personal Reflection]
FPA 3041/MGT 4993/NMA 3041 is unlike any other class I have taken before. First of all, I have never had one class be three classes at once.
I feel that my time in this class so far has been one of the most dynamic learning experiences I have ever had at this school. It is incredibly fast paced and there is something due every week. You learn two different things at once; both management and a new art skill. Not only that, but in projects you must learn to merge these two subjects together. Often, we learn separate skills in different classes and sometimes we utilize one skill in another class—but I’ve never been in a class where this is actively required. I feel as though I have gained the ability to think critically, problem solve, and be creative from both a design and a business point of view.
A particular challenge I faced many times in this class was in regards to brainstorming. Being pushed to come up with 50 ideas over and over again could be very straining. I felt as though I was desperately trying to get water from a well that had run dry. However, the key is not giving up. I was able to meet the challenge by clearing my mind and starting from square one. Your mind comes up with ideas it could not think of the first time.
As someone who has studied (albeit a small portion of) art and design, I feel I can bring an aesthetic and execution skill to the team. We can brain storm together, and then I can assist in making it a reality or discussing different ways we can approach the design. I feel this is my strength and particular interest, and I feel I can continue developing this by continuing to diligently study and practice the topic at hand: 3D design and printing.
