Activity aim: This activity will be assigned at the end of a class to check students’ understanding and progress.
Materials needed: pen and paper
Time: 5-10 minutes
Activity Description:
- Post on the slide: 1) What are three major takeaways from today’s class? 2) How will you connect what you learned today to the previous lessons or the major themes of this course?
- In the next class, put a list of 10 potential “most important” takeaways that students wrote about on the slide.
- In pairs, students should whittle the list down to 5 takeaways. In groups of 4 or 5, they should compare lists and decide on three takeaways. Then, they can debate the three takeaways as a whole class. This serves the function of reviewing material while also giving you insight into what is still unclear.
