City Unveils Campaign to Improve Girls Self-Esteem – Kiana Eng

New York City has launched a new campaign called the NYC Girls Project that aims to promote healthy body image and self-esteem in young girls. Primarily through bus and subway ads, the images depict girls of all ages, colors, and sizes along with the slogan “I’m beautiful the way I am”. As studies have shown concerning evidence that girls as young as 10 are exhibiting signs of body image issues, the target audience is girls ages 7 to 12 years old. The campaign endeavors to provide a healthier and more realistic portrayal of beauty than the way it is portrayed in the media
