Purposeful Imagery

This map provides purposeful imagery to support this group’s claim in the SWOT analysis that the “ring of fire” is a strategic site for future investment. The imagery is captioned and color-coded for maximum clarity and impact. Furthermore, the visual representation of information captures audience attention and aids comprehension.

The table of contents slide for this presentation on FreshDirect has a compelling, high-resolution, inviting image. The table of contents, which gives the audience a roadmap of what’s to come in the presentation, is mirrored by the basket of fresh foods, which showcases the customer’s upcoming meals, playing with another meaning of “contents.” This imagery is directly related to the slide’s content, and increases visual appeal.

Each of these slides contains two visual components: a photograph and a graphic icon, both of which symbolize the core competency under consideration. In the first slide, the photograph of a machine and a shoe reflect one of Adidas’s core competencies: speed. The icon of a rocket underscores this message. In the second slide, the photograph of Adidas’s Boost Energy Lab provides a visual representation of the site of their innovation, another core competency. The icon of a beaker symbolizes this innovation. The images on these slides visually elaborate on the text, thus enlivening two otherwise text-heavy slides, and aiding audience comprehension. The photographs are specific, and therefore more compelling than stock imagery would have been. The icons are immediately understandable, and serve to emphasize each slide’s central message.
