Understanding the Literature Review, taught by Femi Lewis
The Schwartz Communication Institute and Marxe Graduate Advisement invite all capstone students in the MPA, MIA, and MSEd-HEA programs to attend a virtual writing workshop this Fall. This workshop introduces students to the literature review as a common component of research projects, such as the capstone paper. Participants will examine key rhetorical moves of the literature review in action and learn strategies for organizing and synthesizing their research to meet audience expectations.

Engaging with Sources, taught by Eva Dunsky
The Schwartz Communication Institute and Marxe Graduate Advisement invite all students in the MPA, MIA, and MSEd-HEA programs to attend a virtual writing workshop this Fall. Taught by Eva Dunsky, this workshop introduces students to key strategies for working with sources on the graduate level, with a focus on the research paper. Participants will examine ways of incorporating sources strategically into their writing—distinguishing between argument, background, and evidence—and review examples of quoting, paraphrasing, and summarizing source material.
