Revising Tut’s Cane

After validating that my design solved my customer’s problems, such as picking things up, reaching, and holding on to objects. There were some comments and feedback that my customers mentioned about Tut’s cane. This is why I decided to review my design and make changes. One concern that my parents mentioned was their mobility issues and their constant pain. To address this issue, I decided to take a closer look and accompanied them to one of their physical therapy. One of the exercises involves a bar and moving it side to side. I implemented this concept into my design with a detachable top.

With this detachable top, I addressed how much pain and tightness they felt by including this feature to allow them to perform these same stretches and exercises. Also, I changed the buttons on the top to make them more subtle and practical since the old button and trigger were difficult to activate.

I changed the lock feature to allow the user to grab on to anything, and be shorter considering that my customers take public transportation. I felt the old lock was too long and would not grab onto the pole of the subway or could hurt other passengers.

Lastly, I changed the claw design to be more sleek and elegant. My user described that my old claw looks like something out of an arcade. I decided to not completely listen to my user. However, I made the claw thinner and made the base smaller.

  1. Hey Omar! This looks so so great! I love all the intricate detail you added. You really tried to think of everything in this design. I also really like how you made videos of each part. Makes it so much easier to follow. Love it!
