How Exercise Can Help Us Eat Less

A recent experiment has shown that we will feel less hungry after exercising due to the decrease in a hormone named ghrelin. Ghrelin, a hormone that stimulates our appetite, has been found to be lower in young, overweight males after exercising, resulting in them eating less without having to go through the torture of hunger.

Air Pollution May Raise Appendicitis Risk

Air pollution is known to cause many detrimental effects on the human body. According to a new report, air pollution may increase the risk for appendicitis. Researchers studied 35,811 patients hospitalized for appendicitis in 12 Canadian cities between 2004 and 2008.High ozone levels were associated with an increased number of hospitalizations for appendicitis and were even more strongly associated with cases of burst appendix. For each 16 parts per billion increase in ozone concentration the scientists found an 11 to 22 percent increase in ruptured appendix cases.

Does Exercise Correlate with Success in School?

This article is about how children who participate in daily exercise are more likely to do well in school.Researchers from The Journal of Pediatrics conducted a study in study with 1200 participants where a child’s physical fitness was compared to their grades in mathematics and English. They surprisingly found that kids who participated in daily exercise could retain information more effectively than those who didn’t. Another similar study by the American College of Sports Medicine concluded that children who exercised intensely before a math test scored higher than those who didn’t. Also this study concluded that weight and body size did not affect the performance of the children’s test scores. What really affected a child’s performance in the classrooms and on exams was the amount of time they spent doing exercise daily and the intensity in which they performed it. This study is significant because we can now conclude that physical activity is not only important for physical for physical well being but also for mental well being. Also now we can say that studying is not the only factor in determining the performance of child in school but that the amount of intense exercise they do is just as important. This study is also important because it gives people another incentive to get their children to do physical daily activity.
