While reading Marshall McLuhan’s “The medium is the MASSAGE”, I was struck by the above passage that talked about the relationship between the media and the education. Marshall McLuhan wrote this in 1967. And he was only talking about the influence of television on the way young people behave and learn. Today the age of the television has been run over by the ‘Information Age’ including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, iPhones, Blackberry, Androids and so on.
But if we look at education in the classroom it still involves reading textbooks, answering questions at the back of the chapter and so on. Are we preparing our students for this world is the question that keeps coming in my mind…
