The meme I used was Imminent Ned because I’m a big Game of Thrones fan.

Also I referenced ‘the bad memes” because Professor Gershovich asked multiple times in the class how many people have never heard of of memes before the class. I think it fits because anyone anywhere can make memes, although they might not follow the correct way to use the meme, for example, using success kid wrongly. But that’s the beauty of memes the amateur memes can be as great as one made by professionals (if there are such things).

I actually have found memes to be hysterical. It took me so long to make one because I just kept reading all the ones other people have made. I thought about how to make a really funny one, and one that made sense. We talk about twitter a lot in class and have our own hash tag, so I decided to go with that.

I chose these images because they show how the way we carry a message or an object can make the difference. According to McLuhan, the medium influences our society to the point that it can be able to re-shape and change the way how we behave or do things. In this image, I’m showing how the medium (the trucks) allows users to deliver their message (the garbage) in different ways. The person who’s driving the little truck has to do more work in order to carry all the garbage from one place to another, and it might be not too efficient. On the other hand, the person driving the high tech garbage truck can collect garbage faster without making too much effort. This allows the person with the high tech truck to reach more houses and share the collection of garbage with more people. I’d like to relate this example to the internet and television, the internet would be the high tech garbage truck and the old truck would be the TV. This example shows how the internet can reach more users in a more efficient way at a lower cost. On the contrary, TV is limited in terms of reaching viewers and its costs are much higher.

Personally I’ve always loved the success kid memes. I chose to do this meme and incorporate Wikipedia because recently we’ve had multiple discussions about internet culture and I think Wikipedia is definitely grounded in this culture. The validity of Wikipedia is less of an issue now with strict rules about posting content and with the history of edits. This meme is funny to me because after one post the kid is made an admin of one of the biggest sharing tools we have now on the internet. Definitely a success story. I used memegenerator.net to create this image but simply inputting text for the top and bottom lines and clicking generate.

I choose to do this meme because one of my favorite chapters from Clay Shirky’s Here Comes Everybody is Chapter 1. In Chapter one Shirky tells a story of a 16 year old girl that finds a phone in the back of a cab and instead of returning it to the owner, uses it for her own needs or wants. Soon she would suffer consequences for what she had done. A community works together through the website Digg and gets the young girl arrested. Moral of the story, just do the right thing before your problems escalate to the world wide web.  I choose to use quickmeme because memegenerator didn’t load lol. I found both websites effective in creating meme’s and this is something fun to do because it lets you put your ideas in a humorous way. Maybe there’s somethings in your mind you didn’t know how to express before and now meme’s gives you a new option.

For this assignment I tried to focus on the 3-D printer demonstration. As discussed in my blog, with this technology would come endless possibilities in various fields of life. This meme is trying to portray one of the future uses of the 3-D printer.

Ever since I saw this “World’s most interesting man”‘s ads on television, I always had the idea of making something on my own to stupefy his idea since I think it is not cool for anyone to testify what they are and it should be left to the people around you to say something if there is anything in fact to be said about. So memes is a perfect gateway for doing so. Moreover Makey Makey seemed liked something shown in class that stood out compared to anything I witnessed before so I took the pleasure of promoting it through  this way.

As part of my final project I would like to research how the new media is affecting our educational system. As more and more schools are doing digital and paperless, how will that impact new media and how important is new media in the educational world. I would like to find out if schools, colleges and universities believe that new media almost mandatory in our time of age, or is it not even needed? Through this research I hope to find the answers and understand new media from an educational perspective.

Hate to explain the joke but I decided to make this one because the registrar and bursar are always suggesting take 12 credits a semester just to get financial aid, when really you should be taking 15 or more if you want to graduate on time. Its basically a scam and who better to give you the waring then Admiral Ackbar
