Primarily, I like the outline and organization of this document. For example, this framework is able to break down seemingly simple ideas into developed definitions. As a student, I believe that I have been following much of this framework unknowingly. However, I am left wondering how much success rate would be with these new frameworks that I have yet to try, such as writing in different environments or changing my writing process.
I agree that these habits are essential to a successful writing process. In fact, I believe that these experiences can help improve my writing skills. In general, these habits mostly come naturally. For instance, when I am struggling with a complicated text or I am met with an idea that is unconventional for me, I am put in a position where my openness is tested. I must be able to be open to new ideas and thoughts in order to properly understand a novel idea. Also, without the ability to acknowledge my rhetoric style and my audience, I doubt my writing, especially in school, would be successful. Therefore, these methods are essential.
I have been guided toward these habits and experiences before, but I believe I have experienced them in different ways than described in the framework. Particularly, I believe that my education this far has helped me in developing a knowledge of convention. For instance, I have a sense of the difference between the tone and style of a research paper and a fictional story. As the framework suggests, I have learned to identify various types of writing by practicing it myself throughout my education. However, I believe that the greatest contributor to my knowledge of convention has come from my personal reading. My personal reading of newspapers and novels throughout the years has helped me fine tune this skill without even truly understanding the implications of all my complicated knowledge until reading this framework.
I have used these methods of the mind before. Oftentimes, when I find myself beginning a new writing assignment, I am met with a sense of curiosity. The questions that I ask myself and the knowledge that I seek is precisely what motivates me to write. When I identify the questions I wish to answer, my next step is to conduct research, such as reviewing the text I wish to analyze. In addition, I find that I need persistence in order to finish an assignment, regardless of the length. There are moments where I find myself struggling to continue an assignment. In moments like these, I give myself a mental break, but I do not give up. I persist and continue the assignment when I have a clear head and am able to think and write.
I see these experiences manifesting in my education on a daily basis. As I have mentioned above, my curiosity and persistence have helped me come this far in my educational career and has developed my interest in reading and writing. Additionally, my engagement in the material I am working with sparks my interest and creativity when developing my own writing.
