A major part of raising awareness of mental health illnesses like depression means being involved and supporting your community. While red ribbons are well-known for supporting victims of HIV, not as many individuals know about the green ribbons, which symbolize support for those with mental illnesses according to Stephen, a mental health advocate. It is important that victims of mental illnesses receive the support and encouragement they need in order to feel committed into recovering. May is Mental Health Month, while October is Mental Illness Awareness Week as well as World Mental Health Day. Spread some love by wearing a green ribbon! Post on your social media or even write a letter to bring more attention on mental health illnesses! Whatever it is, you can be the one to make a change in your community with even the simplest of actions!!
