An important issue to me is Immigration. Many people come to the United States because they want a better life for themselves or for their families. They want to have a job, education, and just live the life that they may not be able to live somewhere else. Immigration actually benefits the United States in many ways. For example, immigrants can strengthen the economy by creating businesses and making jobs for other people. They also raise the number of consumer goods sold. There’s also more diversity in the U.S with Immigrants they come from different cultures so there’s new food and new things for Americans. Therefore, Immigration is an important topic to me because it doesn’t hurt anyone and people are just trying to accomplish their dreams.

I chose this article because in the article it states how the president Trump, is trying to do whatever he can so immigrants won’t come to the United States. But his ways are not good and they are hurting people. He had an idea to shoot people’s legs when crossing the border so that would slow them down. I understand that he doesn’t want immigrants in the U.S but shooting people is not a way to stop them. They aren’t hurting anyone all they want is a better future.

  1. Immigration in the United States is a very controversial topic because of society’s opinions on the ways it affects Americans.People say that Immigration is bad because immigrants tend to take away jobs and opportunities Americans have.I disagree with that statement because the United States has been known for it’s developing in diversity throughout the years. People come from many countries around the world to the United States and they bring their cultures and languages with them and I believe that the diversity people bring with them has helped the United States grow economically and culturally.Although the main language in the country is English , there are now many languages spoken which is important because it affects the communication and relationships the United States has with foreign countries. I agree with Gutierrez’s statement, “Many people come to the United States because they want a better life for themselves or for their families.”There are people in many countries in the world that are suffering from poverty and discrimination in their own country and it prevents them from living their lives peacefully so they have to emigrate to look for a better life in another country. Most immigrants have shown they are hard workers, that they want to overcome challenges that they face in life and that they only come in the country with good intentions. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of racism here in the United States, many fail to understand that we are all human beings despite our differences, they fail to believe in diversity and that is what makes them go against Immigration. Many people get negative ideas from others, especially from President Trump, he’s against immigration and one of his biggest targets is Mexicans, he is always discriminating them, he wants to build a border to keep people from coming to the United States and that’s so wrong. It’s bad because how would the U.S develop as an outstanding country if immigrants are not allowed to look for a better life in the country?I believe that the U.S should instead get more involved increasing diversity and developing good relationships with foreign countries so that all our differences can come together to make a good future possible.

I was personally very interested in Giselle’s blog post about immigration because it has been a serious controversial topic in the United States for a while now. Some argue that immigrants shouldn’t be allowed to live here without documents and that they should be deported instead of giving them a chance to get their visa and many families are separated because of this issue. I agree with Giselle and that immigrants actually has many beneficial factors to the United States especially because immigrants are taking on a larger role in the U.S. economy. Piggybacking on what you said about immigrants and the economy that they can strengthen it by creating businesses and making jobs for other people and adding onto it is that some other beneficial factors immigrants have on our economy are “outputs in the economy is higher and grows faster with more immigrants, most estimates show a small impact of immigration on low-skilled native-born wages, high-skilled immigration increases innovation, immigrants contribute positively to government finances over the long run, and high-skilled immigrants make especially large contributions.”

  3. I believe immigration is an incredibly important topic and has been for a whole
Now. Trumps election into office just heightened this As Giselle showed in her post. I believe she comes from a very similar perspective as me. This is a perspective of love. As someone whose family members have struggled for years with immigration its very apparent that the new initiatives taken like the walls are ruining lives. My family works long strenuous hours for below minimum wage pay. This is not because they are trying to steal people’s jobs but because they have no other choice since they can’t seek any legal council to protect them. Once again because of the current state of how people see immigrants today. Giselle’s post just once again reminded me how important this topic is to everyone
