There are a lot of things in my life that I hold close to my heart, but to me the most important thing that I truly care about is giving back to my mom. It’s always been on my mind for as long as I can remember and it is something I will never dismiss. Like my mother, most parents come to the United States for better lives than the ones they have back in their home country, but most importantly, they do it for the future of their children. When my mother moved to United States, she did it with the intentions of helping here loved ones back home. Even before my brother and I were born, she was already thinking about our future. Although she had her brothers with her in the states, they were never really “there for her”. She’d tell me how she would have second thoughts about going back home but the only thing motivating her to stay was the thought of having children in the United States where they would have a better chance at life than in Colombia. When I first heard about this from my mother, it was the first time I realized that my life is the way it is because of the sacrifices she’s made. The schools I’ve gone to, the opportunities I’ve had and the friendships I’ve made were all thanks to her. Since that day onward, I made it a priority to give it my all when it comes to school. My mother plays a huge part of my motivation to go to college to get a profession. Hopefully one day I can make enough money to support her and accomplish her dreams of traveling around the world. I cant imagine a life without giving back to my mom and where I don’t share my success with her. I want her to have a fruitful life.
