Project 1: Creative Non-Fiction Personal Essay (two options)

  • 1,000 – 1,250 words / ~ 3.5-4 double-spaced pages
  • 30 process points
  • 50 product points

Project 2: Rhetorical Analysis Research Essay

  • 1,000 – 1,250 words / ~ 3.5-4 double-spaced pages
  • 40 process points
  • 50 product points

Project 3: Community Action Project

  • at least 2,250 words / ~ 8-9 double-spaced pages
  • 50 process points
  • 100 product points

Portfolio Reflection

  • 500 words / ~ 2 double-spaced pages
  • 20 points

Weekly Reading/Writing: Daily Warm-Ups & Blogs

  • In addition to the major projects above, you’ll also have “lower-stakes” writing assignments that ask you to respond to course readings and that will scaffold into (and maybe even become part of) your major projects.
  • 100 points

Community Participation

  • Presence in class, timeliness, participation, completion of small in-class assignments, engagement in peer editing and feedback.
  • Attendance and timeliness will be graded based on completion of opening writing prompts in writing journal.
  • Your pod participation is vital to your development and maintenance of our community!
  • 100 points

 

Grading:

There are a total of 600 points available throughout the course or the semester!

 

Grading Scale:

I then use a 100% grading scale to assess individual assignments and your final course grade. If at any time you have a question about your grade in the class, please bring it to my attention immediately.
