Final Reflection and Goals

For our final reflection (no matter which option you choose), it is important to consider what you value about writing rather than cumulatively trying to do it all. In other words, think hard about what you want out of writing, what you prioritize most.

In that spirit, review each of the following:

  • previous moments where you set or thought through goals or things you value in writing (e.g., previous Learning Modules, Process Writing on Blackboard or Discord)
  • the 5 course goals on syllabus
  • the subgoals for each unit on the syllabus

Task

In a comment below, choose at least goal or value about writing from each of the above bullet points and comment below with a note on each of these 3 goals/values and why you value each of those 3 goals/values.

  1. 1. Organize my essays better
    2. Read and analyze texts
    3.Learn differences in research genres

I chose these 3 goals because I’m not a strong writer and I belive that if I focus on these goals it might help my writing tremendously.

  2. 1. I chose structuring my essays to be more clear because I feel like sometimes when I write, the way I organize my ideas for each topic isn’t clear enough or gets messy.
    2. I chose use conventions appropriate to audience, genre, and purpose because my style, word choice, sentence structure, and grammar could be improved to sound more professional like.
    3. I chose receive feedback, apply it, and give constructive feedback because generally I don’t have good feedback for other people’s essays but for myself, I wouldn’t know exactly what to revise without a proper feedback talking about what I could change.

  3. 1. Leaving time between drafting an essay and revising.
This was a strategy that I sought out to do in the beginning of the semester and I found that It helped me make better revisions in my works.
    2. Compose as a process
I learned a lot about the process of writing in this course and completely restructured my approach to writing an essay.
    3. Rhetorical analysis style of writing
I really enjoyed writing the rhetorical analysis because the style of writing was different from anything I had done in the past. It let me write a lot more casually because of its blog post structure.
