Brian Lojano-Creative Re-Mix-Food Beauty All Gone

Food Beauty All Gone

The beautiful restaurants made in NYC

All beautiful

Full of people

With energy and dignity

Nothing can steal

Nor repeal

The wonders of it

Not a disease

Without its leash

But if it came out of nowhere

It would be a nightmare

Expecting total closure

One month it was the same

Happy tame days

People coming in and out

No disruptions

Nothing to cause an eruption

Until came the disease

Once the disease came forth

Everything went forth

The seats became deserted

The industry hurted

No crowds

Nor sounds

Just as many restaurants

Were alive days earlier

Are now desperate to survive

The once beautiful restaurants

That were filled with life

Now all gone

Nothing to go on

Just to wait

When everyone comes back

To life

For such restaurants

Returning to normal

Seems less possible

When the dust settles

Nobody will forget

The sickness that painted

And decimated

The once beautiful restaurant

Brian Lojano-I Recommend Eating

I recommend eating croissant. Croissant has always been one of my favorite foods to eat, since it had a different taste than most bread that I ate before. I usually ate bread that was white, rough, and perfectly shaped before eating croissant, so croissant was unlike any bread I had ate beforehand. Croissant has a buttery and crispy which makes you attracted to their taste and smell. Looking at the croissant’s butter and crisp made me attracted to it because the butter and crisp gave the croissant a very delicious smell. If you are looking to eat a bread that so sweet and good to eat, croissant is your food to be addicted to.

I first discovered croissant when I was 10 years old when my family stopped at a rest stop to fill the car with gasoline. Me and my mom went to Starbucks to buy food. My mom choose to buy me a hot chocolate and a croissant without me realizing what croissant was initially. When I first saw the croissant, I thought it was just normal bread but it wasn’t. Once I bit my croissant, it was sweet and delicious. I asked my mom to buy me two more croissants because they tasted very good. Even when I finished eating three croissants, I felt the desire to eat more croissants. However, my mom said that she didn’t have enough money to buy me more croissants.

I enjoy eating croissants mainly due to its flavor, but there are many other reasons why I enjoy croissants. Croissants have a lot of variety in it because it comes in many different shapes and forms. For example, there is croissant pizza and croissant with chocolate. I usually buy croissant pizza from Costco which is inside a package. I open it when I come home and grill it in the stove when it is cold. I eat croissant pizza together with my family and they love the taste of it as well. The croissant pizza is exactly what it is named for; it tastes like a mix of croissant and pizza. If you have ate both pizza and croissant before, croissant pizza is unlike anything you haven’t ate before. Croissant with chocolate is my favorite croissant since I like to eat chocolate and that it is more unique than normal croissant is.  Croissant with chocolate is more unique because when I ate croissant for the first time, I initially thought that croissant had no other specific flavors. Once I went to Starbucks again, I saw on the menu that there was croissant with chocolate. I immediately bought the croissant chocolate and since then, I usually buy croissants that have chocolate.

Ever since I discovered croissants at 10 years old, I have felt amazed at the delicious and sweet flavor of croissants. Even by just looking at someone else eating it I would be desperate to take and eat it for myself. Croissants are one of the best foods to eat right now, and it would be a missed opportunity not to eat croissants.

Brian Lojano-“Killing Dinner”-Week 2 Assignment

1.) One word that I looked up from Hamilton’s essay was silhouetted. The word silhouetted is defined as showing a dark shadow on contrast to a light background.

2.) A passage that struck out to me was, “From a remote spot on the back kitchen steps, he told me how to pull the chicken decisively out of the pen. I spoke to it philosophically about death, grasping it firmly yet calmly with what I hoped was a soothing authority.” This stood out to me because Hamilton uses descriptive language to state how chickens are not treated equally and suffer horrible deaths. Hamilton paints the chicken in a  positive way because it points out how the father wants his son to kill the chicken, yet had a bond with the chicken due to being an animal. Hamilton only does what his father tells him to do, if it were up to his own choice he would never bring himself to kill chickens at all.

3.) One question I have is, would the dad ever realize that killing chickens for meat is unjustified and cruel?

Brian Lojano-Pumpkin Pie Food Memory

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite days of the year not only because I get to be with my family, but due to the amazing food that is given during Thanksgiving. One of the foods that I really enjoyed during last year’s Thanksgiving was pumpkin pie. Before my parents had bought pumpkin pie during last year’s Thanksgiving, I wondered about when I would ever get to eat pumpkin pie. Once I got to eat pumpkin pie for the first time last year, I was left amazed at how delicious it was. I believed that it was the best pie I had ever ate. Having been used to eating the same food during past Thanksgivings, eating pumpkin pie felt like a refreshing change. I used to always eat turkey and mashed potato for Thanksgiving, and felt that I would never get to eat different food during Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie was always a traditional food for Thanksgiving, but my parents never bought it before because they were used to eating healthier food. But I was willing to convince my parents to buy pumpkin pie so we could see how good it tastes.

Having ate a delicious pumpkin pie, I asked my parents if I could eat more pumpkin pie. But they said that I could not eat anymore since there had to be enough pumpkin pies for everyone in the family. Initially, I was upset but then realized that I could buy more pumpkin pies at Shop Rite. Later that day, I went with my sister to buy more pumpkin pies. Once I came back home, I had my time to eat the pumpkin pies that I bought. Knowing about how great pumpkin pies tasted changed my perception of how I would usually eat during Thanksgiving, since I was accustomed to just eating turkey and mashed potato. By discovering the delicious taste of pumpkin pie, I realized that I could look at more food variety during Thanksgiving season.
