Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite days of the year not only because I get to be with my family, but due to the amazing food that is given during Thanksgiving. One of the foods that I really enjoyed during last year’s Thanksgiving was pumpkin pie. Before my parents had bought pumpkin pie during last year’s Thanksgiving, I wondered about when I would ever get to eat pumpkin pie. Once I got to eat pumpkin pie for the first time last year, I was left amazed at how delicious it was. I believed that it was the best pie I had ever ate. Having been used to eating the same food during past Thanksgivings, eating pumpkin pie felt like a refreshing change. I used to always eat turkey and mashed potato for Thanksgiving, and felt that I would never get to eat different food during Thanksgiving. Pumpkin pie was always a traditional food for Thanksgiving, but my parents never bought it before because they were used to eating healthier food. But I was willing to convince my parents to buy pumpkin pie so we could see how good it tastes.
Having ate a delicious pumpkin pie, I asked my parents if I could eat more pumpkin pie. But they said that I could not eat anymore since there had to be enough pumpkin pies for everyone in the family. Initially, I was upset but then realized that I could buy more pumpkin pies at Shop Rite. Later that day, I went with my sister to buy more pumpkin pies. Once I came back home, I had my time to eat the pumpkin pies that I bought. Knowing about how great pumpkin pies tasted changed my perception of how I would usually eat during Thanksgiving, since I was accustomed to just eating turkey and mashed potato. By discovering the delicious taste of pumpkin pie, I realized that I could look at more food variety during Thanksgiving season.
Hey Brian, I really enjoyed reading your story and I could definitely relate. I like how you explained the classical thanksgiving dinner you had because it emphasized how you felt as if something was missing. I also liked the additional story you wrote at the end explaining how the pumpkin pie made a big difference to the food that you just had to have it again. I could relate to this because my best friend recently started attending our Thanksgiving dinners. Therefore, every time she attends the thanksgiving dinners she tries to bring a new dish from her home country that she can share with my family. Which I appreciate her doing because I feel like having something different each year makes the dinner so much better. Two questions I have are: How will the pumpkin pie affect future thanksgiving dinners? And What made you fall in love with pumpkin pie was it the taste?
Hi Brian,
I really liked how you explained how Thanksgiving allowed you to discover different types of food. I also liked how you mentioned that you convinced your parents to get pumpkin pie and how you went to the store with your sister to buy more. I can relate to your story because I love pumpkin pie as well. Sometimes I sneak an extra slice to my room before it runs out. One question I have is how did you convince your parents to buy you the pumpkin pie? Another question I have is what drew you to the pumpkin pie?
Hey Brian,
I enjoyed reading your food memory. Thanksgiving is also one of my favorite holidays, being able to gather around your favorite family members and eat wonderful food means everything. I can connect to the point you made about your parents not letting you eat pumpkin pie due to there not being enough for the entire family. In my family, we also follow that same rule we make sure there is enough for everyone before taking seconds. Another thing I liked about your food memory is your persistent nature in obtaining pumpkin pie for thanksgiving. Although your parents said you couldn’t eat anymore, you still went out on your own agenda to get it, very relatable since I share that same nature.
A question is, what about pumpkin pie got you so attached to it? Also, do your other family members enjoy pumpkin pie or just you?
