Hi Class,
My name is Kulvir Singh and I’m a sophomore here at Baruch. I was born in India and came to America in 2009. My parents wanted better education career opportunities for me and my sister, which is why they decided to move to America. I was never sure what I wanted to be in life, however I knew I wanted to be in a business field which is why I attended a business orientated high school.
I went to the high school of Economics and Finance. Its a unique school with business orientated mindset. School’s key focus was to ready the students for careers and office environment. The school provided many opportunities such as workshops and internships. I ended up growing a lot as a business professional in that school. My interest in the business sector also peeked and I ended up coming to Baruch college for further studies.
When I first arrived at Baruch I didn’t really like the campus and I wanted to transfer. I was looking at other colleges with great outdoor campus, and almost all of my friends went upstate or out of state. But after certain time the thought of transferring became unthinkable and I ended up staying. My life had adjusted to the life in Baruch and the friends I made here. I use to feel stuck here but now there is no where else that I feel more alive. If you want to be happy surround yourself with people who have similar goals and mindset as you. This is how it is in Baruch, most of the students have same major as me and similar goals. I’m looking forward to working with all of you.

What’s good everybody, my name is Jason Fan and I am majoring in Accountancy at Baruch College. I grew up in Brooklyn. My favorite food is chicken-over-rice served from halal carts. My favorite things to do are playing video games, watching Netflix, and meeting new people. People say I have a resting sad face but I swear that’s just my face. I love listening to rap music because in New York I milly rock. And sometimes I hide it in my sock. I went to Governor’s Ball this summer to see Travis Scott live and it was amazing. My favorite color is purple. My goals for the future are to get money and a baddie. My favorite brand of cereal is Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hello Class
My name is Saul Guerrero. However, most people just call me “Saulitoh”. I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to New York around eight years ago. Both, my father and mother were seeking for new opportunities in this country, “the American Dream”, a place where I can also pursue my dreams along with them. This is my first semester at Baruch College. I have an associate degree in Business Administration, and I am currently majoring in Finance. My interest in business came from my father. I have always had a passion for following the financial markets and current business news. As a child, I had the opportunity to observe my father works in the business world. He works for a small multimedia company where he specializes in sales and marketing. By growing up around the business atmosphere and going to work with my father on many occasions led me to develop a strong liking for the industry as a whole. I watched my father plan and execute various strategies, pricing schemes, promotions and distributions of ideas, and goods and services for his clients in and around New York City. My father influences are the reason why I want to be in the business world and become a Financial analyst.
I consider myself to have a great sense of humor. I like to be around people who always think positively. Whenever I have free time I like to travel and as one of my goals I want to travel the world to meet new people and experience all different types of cultures. I feel that there is so much more out there that I would love to discover.
As far this course I am very excited because I feel this class it is going to help me to improve both my public speaking and communication skills. I look forward to having a productive semester, making new friends, and improving my writing skills throughout this course. This whole blogging thing is new to me and I really like it. It could probably make me new friends and people that have common interests with me.

Moliere, Tartuffe
— Discuss the theme of appearances or masks in Tartuffe? How does the issue of appearances vs. reality connect with the central concerns of the play?
— Discuss the role of Dorine, Mariane’s lady maid. What kind of servant is she? What role does she play in the action of the drama?
— How is the institution of marriage treated in Tartuffe? What are some of the models or ideals of marriage that are raised by Moliere or his characters?
— Describe the character of Orgon. Why do you think he’s so vulnerable to Tartuffe?
— Can you think of a contemporary example of the kind of religious hypocrisy exemplified in Tartuffe?
— Describe one aspect of the play that seems very modern to you and one that seems very dated or old-fashioned.

Who Am I? – Introduction
Hello everybody! My name is Anastasiya. I love to draw, daydream, read books, and solve creative challenges. If I could describe my aspirations in one sentence, it would probably be, “Jack of all trades, but master of some.” This is because as a college student, it is very challenging to decide which career path to take due to the contrasting interests that one may have.
For all four years of high school, I was immersed in the world of art and thought of becoming an artist. The type of art that I was doing included sculpture, mixed media, various forms of painting, and drawing. Yet during that time, I was also an active player in games such as League of Legends, Sims, and Assassins Creed, which drew my attention to game design. Due my love for both art and video games, in junior year, I signed up for my first coding class in hopes to learn more about this industry. This class not only taught how to do basic coding, but also educated students about the vast possibilities as well as opportunities in the tech field.
Fast forward to today, I am a sophomore in Baruch, majoring in CIS, and want to become a front end web developer. However, it is still challenging to say that this is the right path for me to take. On one hand, I look up to tech savvy programmers, attend hackathons, and visit platforms like FreeCodeCamp or GitHub. On the other, I am also like “Alice in Wonderland,” and have a whole world in my head so I end up either drawing or reading Haruki Murakami all night. So how is this personality crisis to be solved?
Over this summer there was a program called Wix Design Playground. In this program, there were many creative individuals including designers, photographers, illustrators, and animators. At first I felt anxious since we were all different ages, had different backgrounds, and levels. Yet soon the program began to feel like a small family. Together we learned how to apply both our tech, as well as other creative skills to learn how to design websites. For my final portfolio website, I immersed myself into my own ‘wonderland’ and created a place where my illustrations can live. This experience has not only taught me that the fields of art and technology can intersect, it also revealed the importance of having a passion for your career and loving what you do.
The best part about attending Baruch is getting to meet many interesting people, learning something new in every class, and have the chance to explore various career paths. As a freshman, I used to worry about getting a perfect 4.0 GPA and got super sad when I saw my first B for Calculus. Although I still worry about grades, there are a lot of more aspects that go into the definition of college success. This definition probably varies for each student but personally, I think that although grades are important, college success is , as people often say, “more about the journey, not the destination.” 🙂

Introduction!
Hello everyone,
My name is Xiuling Yu. I’m 19 years old and currently a sophomore at Baruch College. I’m majoring in Accounting and haven’t made my decision on what to study for the minor. I was immigrated from China by my parents in 2010 when I was 11 years old. I started my new life in the state of Georgia and stayed there until my sophomore year of high school. I’m currently live in Queens, New York for five years. I have siblings, one sister, and brother and they’re so annoying. I started having part-time jobs in my senior year of high school, and I have enjoyed all my posts so far. I had worked in Target, restaurants as a cashier, bubble tea stores, daycare, and tutoring schools. I like new things by going to different environments and meeting new people to expand my knowledge of thinking about this society. I’m not a very outgoing person, but if you give me some time, I will be very close to you.
I love to travel anywhere that I could go. I don’t like staying home because all I do is sleep, laying down or be on the phone and iPad all day long. So far, I had been to Thailand, Hawaii, Canada, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. Shortly, I hope I could be living in Los Angeles because I love the city. I love the weather, environment, people, and everything else.
Some of my hobbies include shopping everywhere, sleeping, watching drama shows, texting or talking to friends on the phone (all day long), and lastly is eating, eating, and eating. I love food. I like different cuisines of food, and it could be from many countries. I want to try out new foods with unique tastes. I immensely love ice creams. I need to have ice cream mostly every day, but except for the winter time so I hate winter because it is too cold to eat ice cream.
Furthermore, I’m looking forward to this English 2850 class and ready to learn a lot of new things. I will try my best in this course as I usually do in other English classes because my writing is not as good as it should be. I hope everything goes well throughout this semester.

Introduction
Hello everyone,
My name is Lovepreet Singh. I am from India. I belong to Sikh religion and I feel proud to be a Sikh. I came to United States in 2015, with my family. In 2015, I went to Long Island City High school. And I graduated from high school in 2017 with Advanced Regents Diploma and I also achieved the Seal of Billiteracy because I speak four languages Urdu, Punjabi,Hindi and English. I am Sophmore at Baruch. I am thinking of majoring in Accounting and become a CPA. In order to become a CPA one must pass CPA Exam and have 150 credits which is very hard. The reason why I came to Baruch is only because it is one of the best college for business major all over the United States. I think that I made the right choice by coming to Baruch. It was very hard for me to get into Baruch but thank god that I got accepted into SEEK program which gives opportunity to students who did not meet the Baruch admission requirements fully.
Some of the things that I love to do is work long hours shifts and make some money. I love driving and I am also a TLC driver. I love playing Volleyball and I started playing volleyball in High school in United States and I became good at it. But, from the time, I came to college I did not touch the Volleyball because I do not have enough time to play because we get a lot of Assignments in College. Another thing that I would like to share with everyone is that I love making Pizza and I am Pizza maker in Little Caesars Pizza. And I am working in Little Caesars Pizza from almost two and a half year. At last, I would like to say that “Nothing is Impossible”.

An Introductory Masterpiece
Hello everyone. My name is Sadat Tashin. After having had read all of your introductions I myself began to believe that my life isn’t really as interesting as all of yours. However, since I’m required to do this introduction, I hope you all understand what I am about to tell you about my life is a true story.
My name is Sadat, I have already said that twice by now so my name is probably stuck in all of your heads. I was born in Sadat Land and I came here when I was two years old. My dad was a man of nobility who was on the run from the old country and decided that we should all move to the United States to escape persecution since Sadat Land had a communist revolution twenty years ago and they were prosecuting former aristocrats of the old regime. Since i barely know enough about my country, all I know is that I was named after it.
Anyway I spent 98% of my life here in the United States so far. I grew up in Elmhurst, Queens and I went to school in Elmhurst as well up until High School. As I grew up in New York City, my parents would tell me tales of the old country and how life was better for them before the communist revolutionaries overthrew our king. I used to listen to these stories with wide eyes as I would imagine myself being in them, except I wasn’t the one who would be dead in these stories.
When I got to High School, things changed for me. I started having more responsibilities, more fun and started doing more questionable things. However, one day, when I picked up some Pokemon cards that were on the floor of a hallway in school, I realized something when I was studying the picture of Charmander. Sometimes if you want change, you gotta do it yourself.
And that’s the story of how I made a plan to go to Baruch College, learn as much as I can and go back to Sadat Land and overthrow the communist regime, set up my own government and become King. The End.
Okay, 99% of what I just wrote was all fake. I tried my best to lie about my life to make it more interesting but I’m guessing that didn’t work. Here’s the real story of my life:
I was born in Bangladesh in 1999. My family decided to move here when I was just two, for reasons which I don’t know even to this date (We were pretty rich in Bangladesh so I don’t know why my dad decided to take the “L” and move here).
I don’t really remember much about my life in Bangladesh since I grew up in New York City. I’m from the Queens and I had most of my education there until High School, where I went to Brooklyn Tech. I decided to go to Baruch since it’s a pretty nice college and it’s in the city so I can just stay home and let my mom clean up after me. It’s my second year in Baruch and so far I’m liking it here. When I’m not chilling in Baruch, I chill with my friends or at home and play the guitar sometimes. However, ever since I became an adult I was met with the task of responsibilities which I’m still forced to accept even to this day.
So far, my life’s been okay and not that interesting but let’s see how it goes I still got a lot more years to go before I die unless I do something stupid.

Introduction
Hello all. It took me a while to figure out how to create a new post here. It’s nice to be here and I’m excited to read and dissect various types of literature from around the world.
My name is Maxwell Yeung. I’m an American-born Chinese. I lived in New York for my entire life. I was born somewhere in Queens, but I moved to Long Island shortly. Therefore I feel more comfortable identifying as a Long Islander. This is the first term of my sophomore year here at Baruch, I have gotten a lot more used to the city by now. I currently live in the school dormitories and I ride the 6 train to get to Baruch.
I spend most of my free time playing video games, talking to old friends, and travelling whenever possible. I’ve been to far places like Japan, Egypt, Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii In the near future I hope to travel to China or something. I’m interested in studying abroad. The best things about travelling in my opinion are enjoying the cuisine, walking around taking in the scenery and atmosphere, and just relaxing. When I’m stuck in New York I’ll probably be on my laptop playing games like CS:GO or Fortnite. I’m pretty bad at those games though.
In terms of personality I’m pretty introverted and lazy. If I do start working on something though, I always make sure I finish it. So that’s nice I guess. I’m a pretty bad procrastinator so I’ll be up the night before the deadline rapidly typing up a paper. I’ve been trying to change that, but I’m honestly just too used to it. I will admit that the adrenaline from knowing a 8-page research paper due in 4 hours gets the job done albeit poorly. I plan on majoring in Accounting, but depending on how I feel I might switch to Finance or International Business. My parents suggested International Business, but having to learn a second language is pretty scary to me as ironic as that sounds. I know a little bit of Mandarin (enough to survive I believe) but I need to continue learning more of it.
That’s pretty much it as I’ve reached a neat 373 word count as of now. For whom it may concern, thanks for reading and have a good one.

My Introduction
Hello everyone. My name is Marcus Chan and I’m currently attending my second year at Baruch College. I was born and raised in Brooklyn although both my parents are immigrants from Hong Kong as well as several of my relatives. I am also 18 years old and trying to maintain my GPA at Baruch College while working part-time at a local Staples.
At the moment, I’ve chosen my major to be Computer Information Systems but that might be subject to change as I’m trying to transfer to Brooklyn College. The reasons for this are that Brooklyn College is incredibly close to where I live and it takes less than 30 minutes to commute there whereas my regular commute to Baruch would take at least 75 minutes. The second and more important reason is that I don’t have high hopes for the CIS program here in Baruch. Recently, I’ve been told by several CIS graduates and students that the program isn’t best for having a computer related degree. Computer Information Systems is more business oriented and involves a broader field of computer science whereas Computer Science is heavily focused on understanding how written code works. Therefore, I chose to apply to Brooklyn College for its Computer Science program in hopes that I could get more out of it than the CIS courses Baruch has to offer.
Making the decision to leave Baruch college was very difficult because I’ve made many close friends and acquaintances during my freshman year. I met most of my friends at a club called VSA or Vietnamese Student Association. I don’t regret joining the club because all of its members are welcoming and friendly towards newcomers. After joining VSA, I learned how to be more sociable and have been trying to improve on becoming more communicating since then.
My interests in Computer Science came from taking its AP course back in my senior year of high school. I attended Midwood High School which is located in Brooklyn and is right next to Brooklyn College. I never did well in my AP Computer Science class since I was very new to the material and I was very lax during my senior year. However, I am a person who dedicates a lot of his time on the computer for work and leisure. Although I hardly did well in my class, I learned a lot throughout the semester and I was determined to gain more while attending college.
