Hello and welcome to Great Works of Literature II, ENG 2850 KMWA.
We’ll be using this course blog to enrich our classroom experience by sharing responses to the readings, announcements, and links to outside material. In addition to your required blog posts, you should feel free to post anything that seems relevant to our class–a video you watched, something you took a picture of, an article you read, etc. I’m looking forward to getting started!
If you’re interested, here are a few more readings on the canon, the debate surrounding it, and how we define literature, to follow up on our discussion today:
“Revisiting the Canon Wars”
“The Use and Abuse of Literature” (excerpt)

My name is Josh, I am currently a second semester junior studying finance. It was interesting to discuss with the class how some literature came to be known as great works and something to be known as canon. I learned that time discrepancy and power/status affects the perspective in which people view something as canon. I have great expectations from this class and I look forward to studying great works of literature .
Glad to be a part for this semester
Nice blog
Joined sucessfully!
Hey, I’m Kalifa and I successfully joined the blog.
I’m Janice. Today’s discussion was a great introduction to the course. It was interesting to note the origins of canon formation; it seems that the issue of discrimination based on gender, race, status, wealth is omnipresent throughout history and the world.
Successful!
I am Olga, glad to join the Blog. I am a transfer student, major in actuarial science. Our readings seem very philosophical and for this reason could be challenging, at least for myself, I am expecting to learn new and interesting material that could be easy digest. Ready for great semester!
I’m Henry once again and I expect this course to be very challenging with all the critical thinking along with the reading assignments and also learn more about literature as I am not too fond with reading whatsoever, but I hope this semester will turn out wonderful!
