ENG 2100: Writing 1 with Jay Thompson

portion of my research paper

In 2009 the first-ever “Cryptocurrency” was created by an individual with the pseudonym, Satoshi Nakamoto who created the first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin. Since its release, cryptocurrency’s popularity has exponentially increased over the past decade. An example of its viability can be illustrated by Tesla’s founder and billionaire, Elon Musk, who has purportedly invested 1.5 billion dollars in Bitcoin over the past decade (Forbes “TITLE”). These types of high-profile investments and general market enthusiasm about cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin have led investors and financial experts to predict the continual rise in crypto’s popularity. They predict that cryptocurrency will eventually rise to the point where it will replace monetary currency in the next few years. However, in this essay, I will argue that ultimately, crypto will be unable to replace monetary currency due to inherent issues of stability in its design and a larger market and governmental forces.

  1. I have learned that factual evidence / sources do not need to be word for word from a book or a article etc you can parahpharse the line to make it fit better and give it the ability to flow with your argument. I used paraphrasing as a tool while revising my essay helped me narrow down certain qoutes and made it sound much better than just writting word for word what the auther said. Phraphrasing helps me pin point the key facts of a very long qoute and gives me the ability to leave out any none important facts. It is still extreamly important to qoute but the use of pharahsing helps alot in most situations.
  2. Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz state extramly important facts about academi c integrity. They sate how important it is to give the author credit for the wrok they have done and that you are using as a source. One of the first rules of writing is not to plagarise. Plagrising is the use of somones work without citing it or giving the author credit. plagarisim can be seen as a crime and face serius consquences. It is extreamly unethical to copy ones work and portray it as yours. Although it may seem like the easy way out to copy ones stong writing it is not allowed under any cirmumstances. When you state factual evidence from source and cite it, it proves you took time to reserch the topic and learn about while showing proper respect to the auther.

I have a strong belief that using your original home language helps preserve your cultural identity. In writing, it is very important to sound fluent and clear and when writing in your original language give the ability for better fluency. It also helps the writer express themselves and show how passionate they are through their writing. In the article, Ngugi stated that there was an “unequal relationship of power between languages” between how his mother spoke and English. when speaking there should be the same amount of understanding through both languages and not an uneven balance. Rushdie spoke about how in British India children have been using English in writing from a young age which helps prevent an unbalanced relationship between their home language and English. As long as the writer has the ability to express himself through his writing that’s most important.

    1. How will cryptocurrency have an effect in the future?. Crypto isn’t completely new it has been. Around for quite some time but in the upcoming years it has gained tons of hype. Due to the amount of volume it has gained built a future market in crypto in the upcoming years. If the volume dies down the market has a possibility of crashing which will make people loose millions.
    2. Gallo contends that individuals bolster observation since of social standards. Observation secures to a certain amount. in any case, it comes with risks which incorporates attack of protection. Gallo says that reconnaissance is useful in circumstances which incorporates protecting children from swimming coaches. then again, reconnaissance is utilized since of “white anxiety” around African people, abusing citizens’ rights. usually a disputable subject matter since it talks roughly the standards of society. Numerous individuals oppose this idea on what may be ethical and what abuses peoples’ rights. a few individuals might envision that surveillance is imperative to guard people regardless of its awful affect on security. Oppositely, a number of people consider that observation may be a total infringement of protection and shouldn’t be utilized in most cases.
    3. Gallo cites “The Circle” by David Eggers, “I anticipate the day when a few vocal minority at long last rises up to say it’s gone as well distant, which this apparatus, which is distant more treacherous than any human development that’s come some time recently it, must be checked, regulated, turned back, which , most of all, we require choices for picking out.” Gallo utilized this source to show how Mercer, a character within the novel, get away observation. This appears the negative side of reconnaissance which Gallo underpins in his paper. Another source that Gallo utilized is “Surveillance and congruity in competitive youth swimming” by Melanie Lang. This article is almost observation in competitive youth swimming. I think this was exceptionally successful for Gallo’s contention since it’s around one of his sub-arguments. It centers on observation in competitive youth swimming, which bolsters Gallo’s contention that people’s standards of society require swimming coaches to be checked.

week 11/15 Eric noah

  1. Throughout my daily life I go to school, work and the gym. I usually take city busses and occasionally I’ll take the subway through many different places to get home. If its a customer at work people on the train or bus or even people at the gym they all need to learn how and practice crap protection. With crime rates at an extreme high it can be anyone who comes and trys to talk to you can be a threat. I try my best not look at anyone or say anything that might attract someone’s attention. At my job I come in contact with many people who make up lies to get a discount or steal food since I worked at a local pizza shop. I use all my knowledge not believe them and if there is a chance they might not be lying to me ill ask my manager.
  2. one thing I will use while doing my research is,  currency and credentials of the publisher or sponsor. I will use this tactic to find information which is new and up to date and make sure to consider the authors who are the credentials.
  3. One way of writing that I have adapted is keeping an audience in mind and how they will adapt to it. This rule saved me time in the end of my writing because I used to spend time changing it for the reader to enjoy.
  4. One unpopular opinion I agree with that crypto won’t hold up in the future. I say this because there is no physical worth to crypto currency. in an event a coin began to crash millions of holders will sell it and it will lose all its value. Another reason why it won’t hold up is because the hype won’t last forever. Right now it very popular which makes it valuable but once hype dies it won’t be as valuable anymore. My rebottle is that hype is what makes crypto valuable not the actual coins.

1.One process of inquiry I’ve pursued entirely for pleasure is researching places to stay while on vacation. When my friends and family want to travel we always put into consideration price, stars/ratings, amenities, and activities. we also use social media a lot to find out what are the most popular and best places to travel to. We also like to hear people’s opinions if we never stayed at a certain place before. We like to dis process so were able to enjoy an amazing trip.

2 I like to investigate gaming consoles and their ads. I always put into consideration the chips, speed, visual, and memory. I also like to see how they continue to become better than the previously released consoles and how this one beats it. Another thing I like is investing in crypto on a weekly basis. I take a strong look and the gainers and losses on a weekly basis and what will make me a lot of money in the future and what won’t. I continually look at graphs and demographics and read tons of predictions on many coins that can make a big change in the market since I have a strong belief that crypto will be a big part of the future. latley i have been extreamly passionatte about cryto.

3. One thing that i have learned is that people still use books and libraries for reserch. I have learned significant tools that can help for example quicksearch on many platforms to help me get answers in a much more quick and efficent way. I have also learned that certain schools give accsess to reasourses that make investigating much easier. I willl utilize these in my next major project.

The Arguments that Yablonobskiy’s first satets that Nu Pogodi is a metaphor for the daily lifestyles, social structures, and beliefs of the Soviet Union. He made a significant connection by giving a varity of example of appearances of characters, episode plots, and different matters to the Soviet Union. For instance, he notes that the wolf’s steady losses to the bunny replicate the common Soviet man’s plight within the face of corrupt officersachievement. inside the show, the bunny frequently receives preferential treatment, illustrating the reallife corruption that constantlywent on in the Soviet Union. another example introduced up, changed into the soviet propaganda unfold for the duration of the show. Yablonobskiy argues that because both the wolf and bunny are frequently visible accomplishing various leisure activities, this spreads the message that the u.s.a. is a free land. Any person had the ability to explicit themselves and pursue their personal profession, just like the wolf and bunny. basic, the display runs down many soviet topics which would be relatable to a person of Yablonobskiy’s heritage. this iswhy he views Nu Pogodi as a profound cultural artifact to his existence.

I truly believe that Yablonobskiy makes a strong an accurtate argument. His arugument is both clear and pursuesive while proving his point. Furthurmore as an example, he does juxtapose the arrival of the wolf to someone of Josef Stalin’s. An iron fist ruler constantlychasing down on his competition, kind of like the wolf. this is a evaluation I couldn’t have fathomed and it’s thosefactors that add more benefit to his claim.

11/1 course effect Eric Noah

English 2100 has a pretty big effect on my personal life due to large amount of work at certain times. There would be weekends I would need to stay home and complete assignments and late nights before deadlines. I am not upset about it due the fact I was expecting such large amounts of work and I knew it wouldn’t be like any English class I have ever taken. I can definitely say this class is more intense and challenging compared to my other courses although I get a lot of work in my other classes also. I feel that my transition from high school to college played a big role , because they didn’t prepare us enough for the amounts of work we will receive in college. I feel like by next semester I’ll have a much easier time with dividing my time between school work and personal life without falling behind. I can definitely say this course and my other courses definitely prepared me and gave me a heads up on the amounts of work I’ll receive over my 4 years at Baruch. Furthermore I feel more prepared  for the upcoming semester because of the courses I have taken this semester.

  1. Chau is adressing the discrimination against Asians in the united states in the late 1800’s. He also states that Europens loved the work ethic of asians unlike the Americans

2. The contriversal issue is preveting Asians from gaining citizenship. They were also treated unfairly like working for long hours with lower wages. Rumors were also spread about Chiniese immigrants.” inability to assimilate into American culture and how the Chinese were an “undesirable” race” (pg 132).

3.    Chaus argument about Asians in the film was the strongest. I believe it was the strongest becouse the names the made for themseleves in the film industy. They went from being small roles to to main charchters. In 2018 Crazy rich Asians was realesed with a fully Asian cast which was a great movie.

4.     An argument I can make for Americans is they feared a goverment takeover from Asian immigrants during that time in history. Although it was immoral to discriminate and conduct racsist acts against Asians, the US couldnt take any chnaces. Due to past American history there was a slight possability if a large amount of Asians started to assimulate to the United States at that time they could have conducted a takeover, But no matter what it was extreamly wrong what the US did.

5.     I discoverd that Asians were wrongly treated becouse they had zero intention of doing any harm they just wanted to assimulate and become apart of the American culture. Another thing is how big Asians have in our sociaty and especially in the FIlm indusrty.

10/25 Business Analysis Eric Noah

Dagan Pizza is a restaurant located in Brooklyn New York. it’s on a corner of the main street and in the center of my community. The restaurant has been around for over a decade and I have been eating there since I was a child. the first thing you see when arriving up to the store is a big blue sign with the store’s name and big welcoming glass windows. When you walk in you smell the fresh pizza coming out of the ovens and large showcases of calzones, salads, a vast variety of pizzas, and colorful slushies behind the counter. From the second you walk in you are treated with friendly people who are happy to serve you. Once you order and pay there is large seating areas both inside and on the outside patio. The pizza is always heated and the cheese is melted perfectly and always tastes amazing. The vibes are also always great since there is music playing the service is good and the food is amazing.

A Real-Estate major may question the owner on what convinced him to choose that location and the answer to that would be parking, being on a main road, outside patio seating and large store. Another question would be is it being rented or does he own it or how much is lease or mortgage is. A management major would ask does the owner manges it or he has one doing it for him. Who makes sure the whole operation works perfectly. Who hires the workers and makes sure orders are quick and efficient, makes sure the resturant is clean and up to standards. Laslty an accounting major would ask how much does the restraint make in a day, is it paying taxes, is it making a profit and how do they even calculate their daily earnings.

The majors I choose were 31 Real-Estate , 20 manegmant , and 1 accounting. I choose these 3 majors because they all come into effect when starting or running a business. Real-Estate comes into effect becouse of location size and price. Without good management a business cant run properly, and without accounting they wont know if they are making money or losing money.
