After reading both articles I have become more aware of how past generations have differed from previous generations as well ass how Past generations view us. Both articles depict how our current generation is so much different from others and how we are more lazy and “still live in our parents house”. In both articles millennial’s are seen to have both negative and positive connotations towards our society. The Me Me Me article explains how millennial’s though being the way they are have enormous potential for the future to come. In the Buzzfeed article it speaks about how millennial’s are just straight out lazy and are not as hard working as the people that came before them.
I myself must admit that some of the characteristics used to describe our generation from both articles are true but not all of them apply. Narcissism has become the new black plague as people have become more selfish and self absorbing. I don’t blame most Narcissists due to the fact that they seem so confident in themselves, why not let them bask in the glory. But i do not feel that this generation is responsible for this evolving trend due to the fact that it is simply how society has adapted and what is now. Social media has now become one of if not the most largest platform where people can exchange information. Although social media can be seen as a place where teens can spend their entire day on but it is also the biggest means of communication now. The social media aspect has most strongly exemplified society today as kids hope to be the next big vlogger and social media influencer which is not a realistic dream to live off of. For me the basis of success comes from hands on work. Success though often does trace back to social media as branding yourself will help getting your company out there through pages on Instagram and Facebook. The notion however that we have become lazy is wrong. Why people think we have become lazy is because we have found out easier and faster ways to do something rather than take your time like the older generation does.
Before reading these articles would consider myself a millennial just due to the fact that I do not support myself and often do find myself struggling with real world problems. After reading these articles my position as a millennial intensified as most of the examples used often related to me and the people surrounding me. I myself spend hours on different social media platforms, collecting information
