Virality has helped a lot of people get their messages across platforms and have allowed their ideas to reach a global level. Virality can help someone speak out on mental health, social issues, political issues, and can also help people expand their business. Many youtubers today understand that their platform can be used for these types of ways and are able to manipulate it so that their message can be seen by more people and as a way to boost production sales by selling more merchandise. Famous youtubers like David Dobrik, Logan Paul, and other people who use other platforms like Ninja with Twitch use their fan base they achieved through virality to help sell merchandise they have created. The use of virality has not only been used by youtubers and people of social media but has found its way to chains and companies through the use of advertisement such as commercials and signs. From companies to chains and from youtubers to streamers virality has allowed them to sell merchandise and advertise for themselves helping them become more successful.
Youtubers have always tried to expand their site and popularity through creating merchandise for their followers to buy. Big name youtubers like Logan Paul, Ninja, and David Dobrik have expanded their channel by adding a line of clothes that are available for anyone to buy. They advertise their merchandise through the use of their virality and have seen success because of how viral they are. David Dobrik first started off on vine, which was an app where people would post 6 second videos, where he gained a following of over 2 million early on. After vine discontinued he took his talents to the grandfather of video, YouTube, where his rise to stardom started in 2013. Dobrik has been able to grow his channel to where he now has over 11 million followers and has also started a clothing line. Dobriks clothing line exemplifies the idea that virality can help a business grow which in this case it does because David has been able to capitalize on his virality. Ninja as well is another example of how his virality has helped him become one the fastest gross profiting person in a year due to his success in fortnite. Fortnite is a battle royale game where 100 players are spawned on a map with the objective of being the last one standing. Ninja who started off on Twitch saw a huge rise in viewers when his skills of the game became noticed. After ninja became famous he took advantage of his viral lifestyle and signed with companies that are helping him become more of a global figure. Ninja since then has created merchanise makes money off clothing now as well as his victory royales. Logan Paul has created a line of clothing that goes by the Maverick Gang and after his sudden viral video of him walking through the suicide forest his sales and follower base saw a decline. Here we can see that not only does virality positively effect ones business but can also negatively affect it.
