When I was born my mother decided to give me the name Lily. However, she didn’t know English at the time and misspelled Lily as Lidy. Unlike some people who would dislike a name considered “unusual” I never thought much about it. I am used to being known as Lidy and I don’t think I can imagine people calling me anything else.

I’ve always seen myself as an organized person. I usually organize my daily routines and I prefer planning things ahead of time. I get extremely irritated when my plans get pushed back to one day but there are times when I can’t help procrastinating.I enjoy reading during my free time and as a child I used to dream of being a writer. Now I find myself more interested in business, especially in marketing.

When I first entered Baruch College I was intimidated by the size of the buildings. Even now I find myself completely new to the building. I worry about adjusting to the environment and remembering what each building has to offer and which rooms they hold. I’m also worried about keeping friends. I have no problem speaking and getting to know people but it is difficult to find people who are willing to keep in contact. I know that after the first semester ends some people I’ve talked to before won’t even greet me anymore. Lastly I’m intimidated by the work I get. I’m used to getting little to do because my previous schools didn’t require much from me.

Despite my worries I still find myself enjoying the atmosphere in Baruch than at my high school Midwood. My high school was extremely crowded and I used to have to squeeze through small gaps or use my bag as a weapon to move in the hallways. It’s also nice to have classmates who care about learning and don’t fool around constantly.

I hope that by the end of the first year at Baruch I can become more hardworking. I recognize the fact that I get lazy easily and hope that I will be pushed to work harder. I need to be used to pressure and large work loads.

Hai Lidy!
I enjoyed reading your blog! Very organized yes…! lol
You are Lidy and you know who you are! You seem to be an independent person already so I think you know what you need to know to succeed!

Procrastinating and stuff like that is very common as long as you know how to manage you time! (Which in your case, I doubt you will have trouble doing so) 🙂 I wish you luck in all your classes especially going into business!

Yes the buildings are very intimidating at first, i remember my first visit to Baruch (it was the only College I visited during my senior year) and I completely fell in love with it (because they didn’t show me the 23rd st. building JK!) As the months and years go by, you will get used to everything in Baruch and miss the days when you weren’t! ^^=

As for the social aspect, there really isn’t much to it! It’s doggy dogs world! I also have the same anxieties when it comes to people and friendships! You will definitely meet a lot of people in life especially in college. You will meet them through good/ bad/ sad/ happy etc. times, just always remember to be smart picking friends! It’s always hard to distinguish the people who are actually there for you from the people who always compliment you! As long as you know that you have a family always supporting you, and your old hs/ middle school friends, you can always be strong!

Goodluck with this semester and all your future semesters!! See you on monday!
