Blog Post Guidelines and Due Dates

There are four (4) mandatory blog posts that must be completed for this semester and they count as part of your class participation so their completion will be monitored.

Prior to the due dates, an example of the blog post will be made available by either the peer mentor/ instructor/ both; this however does not limit what you may decide to include in your individual posts – be creative!!

  1. Post One: due by midnight on Friday, September 20th, 2013. Create a two minute video, an eight image slideshow, or a ten song musical playlist that represents who you think you are to your classmates. Embed your creation in a blog post and then write no more than 500 words that explains how what you’ve created speaks to who you are.

Here are some free tools that you can use for this assignment, but you are free to use whatever services you like:

2. Post Two: due by midnight on Friday, October 25th, 2013.

For this assignment, you must (1) post the New York Times “Front Page” you’ve developed in your seminar AND explain why the group selected the items that are included reflecting on how/why these selections best express the most salient issues/concerns during their first semester at Baruch.

3.  Post Three: due by midnight on Thursday, December 5th, 2013 ( one week after our last class).

Create or find a photograph or some other image (a meme, an animated GIF, etc.) that represents in some way your experience at Baruch thus far.  Embed your image in a blog post in which you reflect, in no more than 500 words, on your impressions of your first three months at Baruch.  Your response should be personal and creative.  If you use an image that you did not create yourself, be sure to credit the source with a name, if possible, and a URL.

4. Post Four: (ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP POST) due midnight on Wednesday, November 20th, 2013 (day before our last class meeting)

In addition to the three required posts above, you will also be asked to write a blog post of no more than 500 words that addresses the ways in which the enrichment workshop resonated with you from a personal perspective and, if applicable, if it inspired you in any way. You will have the opportunity to discuss your post in class on the last day that your Freshman Seminar class will meet.
