blog post #4

I don’t think this workshop is that helpful to me. The video that was shown at the beginning was dry and boring. It was informative but it was so boring that I couldn’t pay attention to it at all. I think it would have been better if the speaker actually spoke in front of the class since he was there as well. However, he has some good points that can be quite helpful on volunteering.

College experience

Then your classes seem to get even more pointless, and you wonder how this information will help your future.

This is how I feel like when I’m in math, history, and psychology. I honestly don’t see the importance of taking these classes. I understand that we all need to know the history of the country that we’re living in but haven’t we been learning U.S history in Elementary school, Junior High School and High School? I mean what does my future career have anything to do with George Washington crossing the Delaware River? I don’t have to know this unless I want to be a historian or a teacher which I’m definitely not planning to be. Math and psychology too, why do I need to know the derivatives, product rules and chain rules? Like in what world would a job require you to know these unless you want to be a math teacher or a job that can relate to math? Guess what, I don’t need to know what is a type A behavior pattern nor operant conditioning too. Even if psychology might have some use; what are the chances that I’ll still remember these terms 5 years from now? So why do I have to waste my time on taking all these classes? This image is funny but it also describes the sad truth about college, a place where you put so much time on learning things that you will never need.

Focus 2

1. What have you learned about yourself through your self-assessments and how has this affected your choice of a major?

I learned that I honestly have no interest in many work areas through my self-assessment, therefore, since I have pretty much no interest in many areas, the self-assessment didn’t really give me any insight on picking a major.

2. How do these results reflect a change from what you expected or planned for yourself previously?

I never really expected or planned anything so the my results are not reflective.

3. How did participating in Focus 2 help you clarify a future direction for yourself?

Focus 2 results gave me occupations that are completely different from each other, for example, I got dentistry in one assessment and business management on the other so I don’t think focus 2 is that reliable or even use as a reference.

Our group picked blood donation because it is extremely important for students to donate blood in order to save other people’s live. We also want to raise awareness of blood donation as well as letting the students know that Baruch has blood drive event available in the campus. The articles we posted have given information about blood drive that are relevant to everyone.

Who am I?-Ka Man Cheung

Who do I think I am is a somewhat hard question for me because until this day, I’m still trying to find out who I really am. As many people have been telling me, I am a person with a mysterious personality. I have no clue on how they came up with this and I found this to be quite funny. However, I consider myself as a happy person with full of positivism, for the most part.

I am a slideshow, click me!!!:

Most of the images in my slide show come from the internet that I saved to my phone whenever I see pictures I like. The very first picture is a little girl holding a balloon with the caption “There’s always hope”. Isn’t this a great picture with full of positivism? I think everyone needs to have hope in order to accomplish whatever he or she wants to achieve on. If you don’t have the hope, then how would anyone have the motivation to do anything? The second picture has the same concept that says “What a wonderful world”, even though this world is not perfect but still, there are still things that make it a wonderful world. The third picture is one of my favorites. I like this one a lot because I like making people laugh. I know I’m not the most humorous person out there but I still like to make people laugh, because being able to put a smile on people’s face would make me happy too. Desserts are my favorites which is why I always take pictures of pretty desserts and eating desserts can turn a bad day into a good day. I don’t see why people don’t like desserts. The next picture is cliff jumping which is something crazy that I always want to try. Sometimes I just really want to do something that’s recklessly fun, I mean, YOLO right? There are two more pictures that have something to do with the nature, sunset and central park. I love nature. They are such beautiful scenarios and they always help me to release stress. Finally, I have included a picture of me and my best friends whom are basically my family. I love them to death because they accept me for who I am, someone that’s careless, bad tempered and self absorbed. This sums up the blog entry. I hope by now you would understand a little more about me, as I’m not even sure of who I am.
