Focus 2 Work Assessment Work Interest

Explain how the Assessment Test effect me:

After completing the work self-assessment test, I have learned that my priority is in convention with 0 artistic ability whatsoever. My main focus and interest has always been in math especially dealing with numbers. After completing the survey/assessment, the jobs that matches my interest are mostly accounting and finance related as what I would have expect. However, only a few of the jobs have a bright outlook and many people are competing in the business major. It’s extremely hard to find a decent pay job without having to compete with more people than before. The results reflect upon no changes from what I would expect or plan for myself previously because my expectations was always in accounting. Several marketing jobs were suggested to me which surprised me because I have little knowledge or skills in advertising products or to help a company grow in terms of creating new ideas and evaluations. Participants in Focus 2 help clarify a future direction for myself because many people have the same job interest as me in which motivates me to try harder to get the job. Also, there’s a huge variety of majors/interests in the assessment test that I’ve never seen before which surprised me. I felt more self-directed after taking the test because now I know my goals are the same and I’m not straying from one major to another.

New York Times Reflection

The reason me and my group chose what we did for our New York Times project was convenience. My partner Lisa and I both live in Staten island and it was convenient to go see her boyfriend play in this soccer game. However, I am not usually a soccer fan but i learned a lot from the articles that i chose. I didn’t even know that the US was doing that well and had a good chance of going to the world cup. I am not necessarily in love with soccer but i still have pride for my country to win.

Focus 2

1. What have you learned about yourself through your self-assessments and how has this affected your choice of a major?
I learned that I don’t really have much of an artistic side and I prefer to have a job where it’s organized. I also learned my career should be something where I am in a leadership position because I’m talkative and I’m really confident.

2. How do these results reflect a change from what you expected or planned for yourself previously?
I will probably try to go for something like Business Management and try to use that major to play a role in sports.

3. How did participating in Focus 2 help you clarify a future direction for yourself?
Focus 2 helped me realize some things about myself that I don’t really think about. Focus 2 helped me do an evaluation about myself. It helped me figure out things that I enjoy and things about my personality.

New York Times “Front Page” Reflection

The link above is to the New York Times project about “Blood Drive”.

My group selected Blood Drive as the main topic of the project because many college students donate blood yearly. Blood donation is important to helping others and freshman are not likely to donate blood because they don’t know much about how to. Generally the articles listed in my New York Times projects explains the dangerous side effects of donating blood and giving helpful advice to other students on what to do before donating their blood. Also yearly the number of blood donors decreases and hopefully more freshmen college students will step it up and help contribute to any Blood donation events in Baruch to help New York Blood Center. Donating blood is really easy in Baruch College, you simply go to the room listed under Baruch Event Blood Donation and wait in line.

Focus 2

What have you learned about yourself through your self-assessments and how has this affected your choice of major and career goals?” What i learned form my self assessment was that I am destined to become  a physicist. I also learned that i need to drop Baruch asap and i need to make the move to City college.

“How do these results reflect a change from what you expected or planned for yourself previously?” This is exactly what i was expecting. I like the sciences more than i like any other subject and this just helped convince me that baruch might not be the right choice for me after all.

“How did participating in FOCUS 2 help you clarify a future direction for yourself? It helped me realize all the things i mentioned above. Crunching numbers over  a desk for hours on end is not what i want to be doing in my future.

Yoga Project

The reason I chose yoga as the topic of my New York Times project was because yoga has become very popular in recent years. It is being practiced by more people than ever before and it is also become a conflicting topic in some states like california. Yoga is also very popular in Baruch where a yoga club meeting is hosted every thursday in the student body’s game room. The actual project can be found in the following lines.

Greg A. Blog Post #3

a. “What have you learned about yourself through your self-assessments and how has this affected your choice of major and career goals?”

I realized I carry have a major interest in pursuing science, law enforcement, and a managerial/supervisory position. This does change my interest in pursuing business administration, I feel I will be better suited with operations management and supervision.
b. “How do these results reflect a change from what you expected or planned for yourself previously?”

The results also revealed that organizing, practical, and artistic are my major areas of focus.
c. “How did participating in FOCUS 2 help you clarify a future direction for yourself?”

Participating in Focus 2 alleviated some of the confusion I possessed previously about what I should probably do. I want to do everything, but at least now I have a clearer perspective on what’s realistic with my major.

My Playlist Even Though The Teacher Probably Wont Accept It

Hello ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, teachers. I’d like to introduce to you a 10 song playlist that represents me and who I am as a person. In order, here are the songs:

1. Pink Floyd- Time

2. Bob Marley- Don’t Worry, Be Happy

3. Bob Marley- One Love

4. Audiomachine- Reaching

5. Nujabes- Aruarian Dance

6. Action Bronson- Imported Goods

7. ES Posthumus- Pompeii

8. Re:Plus- Solitude

9. Eric Clapton- Tears in Heaven

10. Guitaroo Man- Legendary Theme

These ten songs represent me as a person and who I am. In order, the first song, Time, by Pink Floyd, represents one of my main ideals, that in the end, time is your worst enemy and your best friend. Life slips away and as you grow older, time itself becomes more precious.

The second song, Don’t Worry, Be Happy, by Bob Marley, represents my care free mind. I don’t associate myself much with the inequities of the 21st century. I tend to not think about what I need to worry about and instead, hope that everything turns out ok. This song calms me, a puts me in a state of peace.

The third song, One Love, by Bob Marley, represents my love of herbal treatment. Coming together as a group and becoming one with the holy and godly herb can bring peace to us as brothers.

Audiomachine’s Reaching is actually a song that represents my life in weight lifting. An orchestral uplifting song, it is the song I always listen to when I go to the gym or when I workout.

Nujabes’ Araurian Dance epitomize my ideology of being relaxed and chill. The song reminds me of walking down the city blocks, smoking a cigarette, being clear of negative thoughts and at the same time, keeping your own uplifting thoughts. I firmly believe that it is a song that everyone should listen to, regardless of its tone.

Action Bronson’s Imported Goods is all about food and cannabis. Self explanatory, its the greatest song to just walk to.

Solitude, tears in Heaven, and Guitaroo Man’s legendary theme are also a part of my chill lifestyle. As said before, I love being relaxed and not having tow orry about anything. Everyone does, these songs just help you do it a little better. Its all about clearing your mind, sitting back, and bumping your head to some amazing songs. These songs are what makes me who I am , they make me whole.
