Strawberry Fields Forever

image

A simple red strawberry. Yes, it describes my experience at Baruch. A strawberry is explicitly tasty, there is no shell, no harmful seeds, no mask. It looks and tastes great ( to 98% of the population, the rest are allergic). Similarly, my experience here is explicitly great as well; My brain is expandimg with interesting material, my eyes are exposed to credible events, and my character is developing into a well rounded body of knowledge.

The Art Gallery that wasn’t

Outdated, inconveniant, and uninteresting. These three adjectives describe my experience in the trip the school’s. Art gallery. Although i have a passion for art and creativity, I disliked the visit because it was improperly presented. The guide lacked energy and enthusiasm, important aspects if your job is to show off a gallery. Therefore, i resonated with no particular painting, that is a misfourtune.

Experience at Baruch

I have attached a picture of the Newman Vertical Campus at Baruch College. I chose this image since I spend most of my time in this campus. I cannot say that it is a very bright campus but I like the accessibility of the classrooms, the technology provided, and the common areas. The classrooms provide for a great learning environment, are spacious, and are equipped with all necessary materials. Baruch College gave me the image and impression of a modern, fast paced university where every individual can make whatever they like of their future. It’s in a great location and the proximity to other campuses isn’t extensive.

Mishkin Art Gallery

Visiting the Mishkin Gallery was a different experience for me comparing it to other art galleries. I was expecting an array of paintings with an informative introduction by a guide. Instead I got to see a variety of images of a real world theme with amore personal connection rather than exploring some hidden elements an artist tries to hide in a painting. The trip itself was also relaxing as it was good to head off campus for a while. The pieces inspired me since I could make the distinction the different authors were attempting to explore in terms of race, wealth, social class, etc. throughout the images.

Mishkin Art Gallery

Going to the Mishkin Art Gallery was definitely a new experience for me. When I go to museums I tend to focus on sculptures and paintings rather than photography. The one piece that has stuck in my mind until this day was a photo of a man playing the piano. It was in black and white (like most of the pieces) and the light was edited so that your eyes focused on his back and the piano. The elegance of the photo is not only the reason that I’ve remembered this photo but the fact that I am going to start learning the piano very soon. It’s going to be an exciting experience. I can only imagine how great the pianist in the photo was, and I hope that as I begin this new journey, I too will become an excellent pianist.

My Baruch Experience

I know this picture must seem kind of silly, but a tree is what I think depicts me during these past few months at Baruch. Over the past 3 months I have grown so much in many areas of my life. The first day of classes was the very first time I took the train by myself so we can all agree I’ve become more independent! Being at Baruch is helping me not only to learn about the world around me, but myself. I have noticed myself not only growing, but giving of myself to the Baruch community and Intervarsity.I am proud of the person I have developed into over this short time and I am excited to see who I will become when my time at Baruch is done.

ERC NABA BARUCH

This was my best and most memorable time at Baruch this semester so far. I was able to go to ERC  and meet with other black African Americans and people from all over the world and different cultures who were all either interested in business or there for the great networking events. I was able to bond and get to actually know people in Baruch better because of this event i was able to bond with over 30 upper class men and 3 freshman like myself. It was super fun and the events were great in opening doors for me and talking about personal branding, and real life problems. It was a wonderful event.20131012_225153

Inspiring art

What inspired me about the museum was how photos can be art. Also that art could be found everywhere in simple things we can take for granted. I also liked how the pictures in the Baruch museum represented different eras in time and different events that were happening. Me myself I am not much of a photographer but love when beautiful pictures are taken and how it can open your mind and how each person views pictures differently. Pictures i really worth a thousand words.

Maybe not tomorrow

Maybe not tomorrow

So, first three months of college was pretty much stressful for me. Unfortunately, the classes I had to take were not in my “wish list”. Even though I think that semester was not easy at all, I am still having fun with my friends and people around me. Lastly, I want to thank Sam and Ryan for mentoring us and getting us through in college.

And I forgot to mention the picture, which is how I felt whenever I had to study.

MISHKINARTGALLERY

Going to the Mishkin Art Gallery, I learned to appreciate art more. I am not an art person so far, but I like looking at pictures that have stories to tell. Every single picture in the Mishkin Art Gallery had a story to tell, therefore I felt interested. Nevertheless, I had to leave the gallery early and did not get a chance to look at all the pictures. Thus, I would love to go there at least one more time and check out what I left out see.
