First Semester at Baruch – Andreas Katelas

Self Motivation

Within a short period of time, I have learned that in college no one will take you by the hand and guide you to success. As students we need to dedicate the appropriate time and effort in order to accomplish our goals. The transition from high school to college hasn’t been too difficult. The only major difference has been that in college we receive absolutely no homework. It gives us more free time, but it also holds us accountable for learning the material on our own time. We need to space our time properly and effectively in order to be well prepared for the exams. Parents and teachers are no longer behind us, telling us what to do. Our future, depends solely on our actions. I feel that the picture I chose, depicts exactly how I feel about college. Regardless of the goal (doesn’t have to be money), we need to work hard and push ourselves to be the best that we can be until we accomplish what we want in life.

Enrichment Workshop – Andreas Katelas

The workshop we attended left quite a bit to be desired. Although I do appreciate photographs from different time periods in history, I felt the guide did a mediocre job at portraying the real meaning of the images. She had a tendency to reiterate whatever was written on the information card. I would’ve preferred if we were able to individually observe the images and form our own interpretation of their meanings. As a result, no particular photographs stuck out to me. I only remember certain themes as oppose to specific images.

Homework Problem – Andreas Katelas

Dear Ms. Trapani,

After countless efforts, I still find myself struggling with Question 4 of the homework assignment. I have looked through the chapter in the textbook and cant manage to find a solution. Do you have any suggestions or tips on how to come about this problem? Thank you for your time.

Musical Playlist

Instead of choosing songs whose lyrics represent me as a person, I felt it would be more appropriate to showcase my wide variety of musical preference. By including different genres of music in my playlist, it shows how I have an open mind when it comes to experiencing new things. The ten songs I selected include rap, house, pop, euro-pop, modern Greek and traditional Greek. One Greek song, “Enas Aetos” which translates to “One Eagle” represents the traditional music I was raised with. As I grew older, I acquired my own unique taste which can be seen throughout the rest of my playlist. My euro-pop and modern Greek music reminds me of the summer. Vacationing in Europe, I was exposed to different types of music which I grew fond of. The genre I listen to at any given moment depends solely on my mood. Generally when I’m excited or upbeat I prefer listening to something pumping like house. On the other hand, when I’m sitting on the train after a long day at school I would rather listen to rap or something more soothing.
