Mahnoor Usman on Sep 30th 2014
Hi everyone, it’s Mahnoor and I’m going to share some pictures with you to show you a bit more about myself.
The fist picture is important to me because it’s with the person I trust the most, Kazi. She’s one of the people I’m most thankful for in my life. This picture was taken while Kazi and I were at the park babysitting Quinn. It shows my love for parks and how much I adore little kids. I am also usually a very cheerful person and love to laugh.
The second picture is with 5 of my closest friends. Each of them have touched my life in a special way and so it represents who I am today. This was taken at central park, near the pond, which again shows how much I like being in nature. This picture was taken after a brunch and was also the day I got my first massage. This is important because it represents my motto. It is important to love yourself (not in an egotistic way) and you should always take care of yourself, which I do by pampering myself sometimes.
The third picture was a selfie taken on stage at my high school’s graduation at Barclay’s. This picture shows a lot of important part of me. First, the person in the picture with me in Ashwin, someone who helped me grow into the person I am today. I used to be extremely shy but I’ve developed into a more outgoing person thanks to his help. Like I said this, was my graduation, the last event I helped plan as a student at Tech. Throughout my 4 years at Tech, it wasn’t just a school for me but rather a second home because the amount of time I spent there. I would stay in school until 6-7pm on a regular basis holding meetings, and helping out or planning for events. I loved every moment of it because after each successful event I could see what I was really capable of.
The fourth picture is of a website I’ve been using to watch dramas and movies since 8th grade. I love South Korea and how to travel there one day so I try to pick up on their language. Other than enjoying korean shows, I also like Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, and Indian entertainment (tv, music, food) and hope to travel to all of these countries (and more) in the future.
The fifth picture is of a henna tattoo I did for a friend. I’ve loved henna ever since I was kid and used to get tattoos whenever possible. A few years ago, I started doing the tattoos myself and love it even more. I also like doing a lot of things in an nontraditional manner so this represents that part of me well. Instead of doing flower partners on palms, I enjoy making peacocks, dragons, and designs like this one.
The last picture is an awful one of me after I got dunked 6 times in order to raise money for my school’s Relay For Life. I am usually a nice person who likes helping other but I also like stepping out of my box and doing crazy things. This is a good example of how I add fun to a good cause.
I hope this helps give a little insight into the kind of person I am.

Hey everyone!
The following you can view eight pictures that I would say represents me.
The first picture is of New York City. I chose this picture because i consider myself a city girl and I do not ever intend on changing that. The city atmosphere is very relaxing and the city offers so many adventures, more than I can most likely endure in. I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York however every moment I got, I traveled to Manhattan to explore.
The second picture is of a batch of whoopie pies I made not to long ago. This picture represents my baking side. Not only my baking side but cooking in general. I enjoyed cooking and baking from a very young age. I am always wanting to learn more receipies from my mother and from other sources. However at home I usually just deal with the dessert making, ranging from cupcakes, cookies, custards, and even chocolate.
The third picture is of me on halloween last year. Every halloween I dress up in something different and in a way unique that most people dont typically do. This represents my artistic side. I enjoy sketching, painting and even doing intricate henna designs. I especially enjoy painting on people (this mostly happens during halloween) and doing henna designs on myself since they are outlets for my creativity.
The fourth picture is of my siblings and me about 7 years ago. I have two younger brothers and an older sister, making me the second born in the family. This picture represents me since I am very family oriented. I fight and have fun with my siblings all the time. My youngest sibling especially helped shape me into a motherly type of figure since I can officially claim that I raised him from when he was little since my mother and father were busy with work.
The fifth picture is another picture of a family member, however one more dear to me, my father. My father, I would say, is my identity. Growing up I always heard from others that I had my father’s face and his personality. Initially I didn’t really put much effort and thought into it. However as I grew older I kept hearing from others about how amazing my father is, as he was a respected figure in his county in Bangladesh and in a the Bengali communities in the Bronx and Queens. My father passed when I was 12 years old however my mother says that his values, attitude, and personality lives more in me than in any other sibling. I was clearly my father’s favorite child (along with my youngest brother).
The sixth picture is of my kitten, Snicker. Snicker represents me since I was always fond of cats and kittens, and afraid of almost any other animal. I got snicker two days before the first day of college and has become an essential part of the family, as “my baby”. Snicker is a very odd kitten, who enjoys belly rubs, laying on his back to take naps, and likes to “kiss” me. Snicker is simply a part of who I am at this point.
The seventh picture is of a few surgeons. More specifically oral surgeons operating on someone. This picture represents me since in the future I intend on becoming an oral surgeon. First off I would need a medical, then dental, then surgical degree. But its a process which I think is worth waiting and taking part in. I wanted to become a dentist since the age of three, my mother thought I would grow out of it but wanting to be a dentists simply never left me.
Finally, the eighth picture is of diamonds. This picture represents me since diamonds is my birth stone. Not only that, but I like almost anything that is covered in diamonds. With my father, his brothers, and my mother’s sisters I was considered the princess in the house, so I seemed to have grown up with diamond/ crystal studded dressed and ornaments. Diamonds are a girl’s best friend no?

In the slideshow are eight pictures that represent who I am. The first picture is a picture of the Freedom Tower in New York City. I chose this picture because I love NYC so much and cannot imagine myself living somewhere else. The next slide has a picture of one of the students that I tutor. I am currently a tutor at Khan’s Tutorial Jackson Heights. I chose this picture because he is one of my favorite students. The next slide is a picture of pink glitter. I use that as the background for my laptops and my phone. That picture makes me happy because pink is my favorite color and if I can get something in pink, I probably will. The next picture is of me and my brothers. I have two older brothers and we are each two years apart. The guy the is second to the left in the picture is my oldest brother’s best friend who was also our neighbor since before I was born; he is like my third brother. The next slide has a picture of desserts from a place called “Mango Mango” in Chinatown. I have such a sweet tooth so I am always in the mood for dessert. I fell in love with Asian desserts when I first had them in Hong Kong in 2004. On the next slide, I put a picture of Six Flags Great Adventure. I love going on roller coasters because they give me so much excitement. I always have fun when I spend a day at Six Flags because I feel as if I have nothing to worry about and I can just have fun. The next slide has a picture of soondubu from BCD Tofu House. Korean food is one of my favorites and I will never get tired of it. I love spicy foods and most Korean good is spicy. BCD Tofu House is also one of my favorite places to go for dinner. The last slide has a picture of Hong Kong. Although I am from China and not Hong Kong, I love visiting Hong Kong; it almost feels like a second home to me. I love spending my summers in Hong Kong because there is so much good food and new things to try. Every time I go back to Hong Kong, it always seems to change and have something new for me to explore. I will never get tired of Hong Kong and I will always go back whenever I have the chance to.

Hello everyone! Today I attached a playlist consisted of ten songs that I listen to frequently. Some of the songs are in the playlist because I found them in Today’s Top Hit’s and thought it was catchy. Other older songs such as “Good Life” and “Bad Day” are just songs that has stuck with me for a while because the lyrics are really uplifting. I am someone that can’t sit still, so no matter what I am doing, be it homework, walking , eating dinner,or taking a long car ride, I usually have to be listening to some background music. I don’t like music that is too loud, or the beat is too strong because it distracts me. Rather, I like to listen to soft music so I can just leave it in the background while carrying on my daily activities. Although I don’t expect you guys to like every single song in my playlist, I hope that you will enjoy at least some of them and have fun while listening to it. Thanks! 🙂

Hello All,
I thought it would be appropriate to show my favorite songs of the year for many reasons. One being is that i am a DJ, i Dj’d for manny years now, and i joined the Baruch Radio station WBMB and already had a job. Just saying, to anyone who didn’t sign up for clubs, there is something for everyone, go join. Anyways, I listen to music from all genres, Pop, Rock, and “oldies”. Some of the songs on the list are remixes, I believe sometimes songs need a remix, to wake it up a bit. I listen to allot of top 40 hits, this is why Wiggle and Fancy and Rather be is on my list, these songs are completely different from some of my other songs like Billie Jean and Don’t Stop Believing. And those are different from We Don’t Speak Americano, and Calabria 2007, which I like the beats too. All these songs show that I have multiple personalities and qualities, which is a given since I am a Gemini. Enjoy the playlist it fits all genres of music and all are upbeat, which I believe is a good thing. Music is supposed to a gateway to a different world, and take you away from reality and enjoy.

Hola fellow freshman seminar classmates! So my name is Eric Yao, I bet y’all have gotten to know me by now. If not, don’t worry, my post will give you some inside info about me as a person, as a student, and as a photographer! I choose my photograph of the Disney Magic because I enjoy traveling to new and exotic places on cruise ships. Not only do I get to understand the place I’m visiting, I get to met the passengers on the ship and have the chance to connect with them. My identity as a New Yorker motivated me to choose my photograph of Downtown Manhattan; many people around the world automatically picture New York as “Manhattan.” For my third selection, I decided to go with a photograph of a Chinese dragon dancer because I am Chinese. Growing up in America, a nation where diversity is prevalent, understanding your ancestral roots is important. A picture of my friends and classmates during Spork Wars is something that represents my school quite well. Bronx Science has a great student environment where all cultures get together to mix and mingle. For my fifth selection, I included a photo of a basketball player because basketball has been one of my favorite sports since I was a child. The photograph of a Chinese restaurant sign serves as a representation of my love for Chinese cuisine. My seventh and most important selection, is my family portrait. I chose this portrait because it represents my relation with my parents and their importance in my life. While I have never been an expert player at volleyball, I choose a photograph of the girls volleyball team because they represent my passion for photography and the importance of “sister/brotherhood.”

The first photo shows an Alaskan Husky. I’ve always loved dogs since I was little, and even though I never had the chance to own one myself, I would love to get a huskie, because it’s my favorite breed. The second photo is a badminton racket and shuttlecock. Badminton was a family sport that I grew up playing since my childhood, and I still love playing it to this day. The third photo is of a Korean boy band, B.A.P. They aren’t the first K-pop group I listened to, nor are they the only group whose entire albums always left me astonished and amazed, but they are definitely the most inspirational group. I always find art project inspirations from their adorable 6 masked bunny mascots. What stood out to me the most when I first heard their music was that it was completely different—the lyrics are meticulously written to tell the world something, instead of just to produce a catchy beat that will earn profits. I also see their leader, Yongguk as a role model because he actively participates in charities and countless organizations that help children in need. The fourth photo shows cooking utensils because I enjoy cooking and baking. The fifth photo is a paint. I love arts and crafts. Even though I’m actually not a good painter, I love doing DIY projects and any remodeling of old stuff or room decor projects. The sixth picture is a Polaroid camera. I love being the person behind the lenses, taking photos of food, my friends, scenery, and the occasional selfies. The seventh photo is of a Cantonese broadcasting station that had daily episodes. Instead cartoon network, I grew up with dramas filled with crime cases, historical spinoffs, romantic comedies, and hilarious game shows. It was what sparked my interest in Asian dramas which eventually branched off into Taiwanese dramas, and later on, Korean dramas and variety shows. The final picture is of writing. I like writing short stories whenever I find the right inspiration, or turning my miscellaneous dreams into worlds of their own in fiction.

Shirley Lo
This ten song playlist that I created shows that I try my best to succeed regardless of the problem.
1) “Chances” by Five for Fighting: Everyone’s life depends on chances and some people are luckier than others. I accept my failures and use them to help me become a better person.
2) “It’s My Life” by Tim Myers: I discovered that the only person who can heavily impact my life is me.
3) “Believer” by American Authors: I often find that I do not leave my comfort zone. However, optimism gives me courage to step out of the boundaries I have created because things do get better and there is hope for tomorrow.
4) “Move Along” by All American Rejects: On certain days, I feel stressed and bogged down by obstacles. However, life moves on and I have to focus on tomorrow’s problems.
5) “Hall of Fame” by The Script: Everyone has an equal opportunity to succeed. I feel that there is a purpose to working diligently.
6) “This City” by Patrick Stump: I was raised in New York City and it is my home. On the crowded streets of this city, there is always competition and it pushes me to reach my full potential.
7) “Let’s See How Far We’ve Come” by Matchbox Twenty: It’s difficult to give up when I look back at all my achievements and struggles I have overcome to get to where I am today.
8) “Lose Yourself” by Eminem: Sometimes I pass up opportunities and don’t realize that they only happen once in a lifetime. I learned to take advantage of opportunities around me to compensate what I have lost.
9) “Do or Die” by Thirty Seconds to Mars: Life is one long story that is limited to a certain amount of time. Therefore, it is crucial that I live my dreams out loud.
10) “Skyscraper” by Demi Lovato: Despite the discouraging encounters I have experienced, I overcome them and move along.

Honestly, I still don’t know who I am exactly yet. It will take me a long time before I can figure that out. Meanwhile, these eight images in this slideshow roughly describe who I am. I like to read novels and listen to country music. I like to spend time to make art crafts with my sister and explore the New York City. My favorite season is obviously related to my favorite Disney movie Frozen. All of these photos are personal and I use one of my favorite inspirational songs called “Close Your Eyes” by Meghan Trainor. Thank you for watching!

So Hi my names is Sam Chen and I am a freshman of Baruch College. I like listening to all kinds of music ranging from country to rap. I don’t really have a perferance to what i listen to and i just listen to what I deem sounds good. Here are some of my personal favorites and ill explain why they are:
1)I like this song because it’s about hard work and dedication, ideals that i try to live up to. The beat and the lyrics are really good as well and the chorus is my favorite part which is why it made the top 8.
2)This song made the top 8 because i like listening to it when i am down or had a bad day and it cheers me up.
3) This song show that i’m “not afraid” to change for the better and face my obstacles head-on as the intent of the lyrics in the song.
4) This song represents my friendship with my friend who died early in life and whenever i hear this song it reminds me of him and the friendship we had.
5) This song is a kpop song that was extremely catchy and was the gateway drug so to say that lead me to like kpop.
6) This song represents how i feel about everyone i meet along my life, i will never forget them or the influence they had on me no matter how much time goes by.
7) As you notice already, a lot of the songs i chose relate to friendship and this one is to my best friend that was always there for me no matter what happened. I place friendship and family as the utmost importance over anything else.
8) This song is just one of the motivational songs that kept me going since i was young because who doesn’t want to be the very best?
