Just Started

We’re getting closer.
Already we have been in school for 12 years of our life. All those early meaningless mornings now come to prove themselves. We are now going to school for what we want. We are half way through the semester, it seems like yesterday we just started.

It all started nice and easy;
Now we’re stressed about pre-calculus.
English is driving us insane.
The one we thought would drive us crazy,
Is now the one who entertains us.

Things have not played out as planned,
History is now one of my favorite classes.
We’ve enhanced our worldly knowledge.

This is just the beginning, next semester we’ll be heading towards our majors.
Most of us won’t be together but this precious time we’ll always remember.

  1. This monolouge pulled on my heart strings! It has been a very emotional year, ending highschool and entering college and for me this monologue captured those emotions and put them into words. Very well done, and so applicatable to everyone.

  2. This is one of my personal favorites, I really like the part that talks about pre-calculus and the teacher that entertains us. I feel this monologue represents our learning community is the events that we’ve shared as a group, but also the personal voyage that we are going on ourselves towards our major. It also brings an important thing that the people we are with now, aren’t going to be here next semester, but we will always remember them because this was our first stepping stone in our college journey. So very thoughtful and I really liked this one!

  3. Did a good job going from expectations to disappointment which really hit my emotions. Especially the ending, next semester we’ll all be dispersed and have our own different schedules. It all comes down to the breakdown of joy to grief but oh well, after a few weeks into the next semester we’ll forget Ester anyways.

  4. My favorite part was the ending – i know a lot of people find it annoying that all of our classes are together, but i really like it and it seems like Esther does too. Honestly, i will be sad next semester because i think we all got so close and i will miss our block!
