Monologue by Tanveer Alam
I have a confession.
I’m dying.
But, I’m dying from a disease that almost all of us are dying from too. Let me explain.
We’re all dying to get that 4.0 GPA. We’re all dying for our day to end. We’re all dying to get that internship. We’re dying to pass that math test. Only a year ago, we were dying to finish highschool and now, what are we doing? We’re dying to finish college.
I feel like-
I feel like all we do nowadays is just die. We spent so much time in our thoughts thinking about the future, thinking about tomorrow, that we forgot about whats in front of us, we forget about the present.
I don’t mean to say, that grades, and finding a job aren’t important, but there’s so much more.
See, the thing is, when we spend so much time dying, we don’t realize, and we forget that we lose something very precious, very important. Something we can never get back.
Time.
And, I don’t want to lose so much time, that one day I look back at my life and realize that I spent so much time “dying” to do this and that, that I forgot to live.
A wise man once said, “YOLO”, or You only live once.
But, the sad fact is that most of us spent our lives dying. Living is so much more than just breathing. It’s about friends, and family. It’s about laughter, and love. It’s about watching those movies when you should be studying, it’s about getting pancakes for dinner, it’s about taking a chance.
Life is about the moments that you will never find the words to describe. So, I’ve made a confession, but now I’m going to make a choice. And, that choice is that I choose to live.
Tanveer was very creative with his monologue. He obviously gave it a lot of thought, it is a very interesting topic. He invites us to appreciate those small moments that are actually what make life worth living. I really enjoyed his monologue.
I really liked your Monologue. It was very attention grabbing, especially in the beginning. I was sincerely worried for you, because I thought you had a terminal disease or something! I think all of us can really to this very well, and as usual your presentation was very well done! GOOD JOB TANVEER !! (‘:
Very creative and that 4.0 though! Did a really good job of building up at the beginning and the ending really made the monologue whole. In conclusion, good job!
This monolouge had me hooked from start to finish. Between the strong words and the amazing delivery, my attention was no where else but on Tanveer. Such a good topic and observation on society, written out very cleverly.
I enjoyed how Tanveer caught our attention with his opening sentence. He also made it very relatable to everyone as we transition into college with one main focus of getting good grades and adapting to the new environment. He does a very good job on shedding light on the things we ignore that make life worth living.
This monologue was very interesting because it made us all stop and think about how we live our lives. It made me realize that it’s true, when I was in high school I couldn’t wait for it to end but now i miss it so much. Now that
This monologue was very intesting and appealed to me on a personal level. I realized that it’s true, when I was in high school I couldn’t wait to get out but now i miss it so much. Now I’m in college and I can’t wait to graduate already. Tanveer’s monologue was very powerful in its delivery and I believe itit effectively got the message across to us, the audience.
Tanveer is an excellent writer and this piece is no exception; both thought-provoking and emotional, it leaves the reader with a burst of inspiration and optimism
