Last week November 9th, I attended the Majors and Minors Fair, which was taking place in the multipurpose room in the Newman Vertical building. The fair was comprised of alot of different majors and minors that Baruch offered and they all had welcoming representatives that knew alot about their major or minor. When walking around some of the major/minor tables were so empty I felt bad. The table had a few representatives who were giving out handouts with information on if they were going to be the one teaching the class and what courses needed to be finished in order to sucessfuly graduate. Most of the representatives were able to answer every and any question that the students crowding around had. I first was approached by the African American minor which taught about the economic changes of the minority latino and blacks which was very interesting and something I might consider. My main minor that was on my mind was music theory or graphic design and i spoke to different representatives to get an overal understanding of what I would be required to do in the minor. After all of my questions were asked I felt very satisfied that I was able to pursue my passion for music theory and or graphic design while focusing on my COMPUTER INFORMATION SYSTEMS major. I felt confident that I made the right decision pursuing the CIS major and I’m excited to see what type of information is waiting for me in the major and minor classes. The fair had undoubtedly helped me gain useful knowledge about the course I plan on taking and I’m glad that I took the time out to go and visit the fare. This was a very eye opening fair and I recommend everyone to go check it out before deciding to declare your major/minor.

fro assignment (career workshop)
Your resume is your first impression. A first impression is very important as it determines how interested the employer will be or taking into account their consideration to invest their time into you. On September 14th, I went to the career workshop where they talked about resume building and they taught me why i was so important. Having a good resume has the sole purpose of convincing the employer in a matter of seconds that you are unique and should be interviewed. Thus creating the importance of taking the time to put in effort into your essay. First off when writing your resume your first most highlighted points of the resume must be your best achievements, your best skills, and your credibility and background, but NOT A DETAILED essay about your life. It is very important to keep the same format and keep everything consistent including the grammar, and the spelling. Make sure that all the information you write down is LEGIT, as if the employer catches you that could cost you a big job opportunity. One of the biggest things in a resume is having a cover letter. During the presentation they mentioned that a cover letter is huge in getting the interest and attention of the employer. A cover letter is the first part of the impression where it is a one page statement that shows the SKILLS that would benefit in a particular interest in a particular field/position and it will propel your chances of getting it, so its good to start out with the skills you think fit the job so the employer sees value, and how good of an employer you will be and your the perfect match for them, and the position youre applying for. Before printing out your resume they stressed that it was very important to have multiple people proof read your resume to catch any errors either with grammar or spelling or even the little things such as MARGINS and consistency, this one little mistake can cost your essay to be thrown out immediately. Overall this workshop was very informative and id recommend to everyone!
Christian Fellowship!
At first I wondered into a random group with the intentions of leaving after a few minutes, but the minute I walked into the Christian Fellowship group I was bombarded with love, smiles, and FOOD! The atmosphere was very calming and the group members were very nice. We all introduced ourselves and played a few games to get familiar with each other, and to test our ability to work without each other and communicate. For the first discussion we were put into groups where the topic was “Have you ever searched for love? and where have you searched either it being in a relationship(boyfriend, girlfriend) or love and acceptance from a family member or where ever you looked for love. I also met the instructor of a males group where they have in depth conversation about guy stuff and he actually has my major, so that will be a big plus in deciding if that is the major for me by asking many different questions of what to expect. The main purpose of the group was to understand the love and teachings of Christianity and what we believe in, and are we hardcore believers or is it a moderate love for our religion. Some of the stories that I heard were very weird, but others very inspiring and this was an experience that I will take advantage of in networking and learning new people. The first impression was everything and the members were so cheerful at one point I thought to myself “why were they so happy?” I want to be that happy, and this is the type of environment I wanted to be in and converse in. The picture attached is the smiles of two well fed individuals with no clue of what exactly they were getting themselves into.
