Freshman Seminar Fall 17 DMC

Resume/interview Workshop

On Thursday, Oct 16, I went to a resume workshop. When I walk in the workshop, many people were sitting down, and the presentation of the powerpoint has already started. The presenter started off by things we should be careful when writing a resume. For example, our name should stand out and very clear for the interviewer to see. Also, the resume should look neat formatted, as the organization and lousy grammar should not see. Bad grammar or miss spell show the interviewer the attitude of not caring and foolish. If you know yourself to be a miserable grammar person, then before handing in the resume. You should ask someone to double check for you; there are places like our Starr career center you can go for help in writing a resume. Also, the resume should only be one page, since it’s one page, things that you write should very represent your self and look nice. To get the job you want, you should also make your personality stand out from those thousands or hundreds resumes. So, it’s not only essential to have a good resume, but it’s also important to present your self-good at interviews. You should answer questions from interviewers nicely, and there should be an ability to adapt your self to changing circumstances. I think it’s imperative to listen to the information that was express and passed on the workshop. One day we will need to write our own resume and go out for interview. There are things to look out and learn before putting your self in those interviews. The way the presenter present is also lovely, he tells us those facts by making things funny. I think it’s very worth it to go there and I think I will go to the Starr career center for help. I learned a lot from the presentation.
