I joined the Marketing Career Expo on this Thursday. I had a hard time to login my Starr Career and found an available event to join. My friend told me this workshop in last minute, so I was late when I got there. They didn’t allow me to get in at first because all the tables were full. Finally, a career director helped me to get in.
I watched several presentations from professors Barry Soloff, Anthony Perrotto, and Debi Feinman. They talked about the difference between marketing, advertising, and marketing communications.
The first professor used the power point to show us the definition about the Marketing and Advertising. Marketing include the business strategy, financial management, product development, and sales and distribution. Advertising include media planning, production, and promotion. Moreover, he also talked about the integrated marketing communications job opportunities. He introduced the digital advertising and media cooperations and so on.
Another professor used a totally different way to show us video resume. He showed us a student’s video resume who study the photographing and film. It was an amazing video which I never saw it before. He used a funny style to introduced himself and showed us several his works and job experiences. This was a brand new world to me and let me know this different way to let us understand more about myself which will help me a lot in my resume. Some company required this kind of video, and I think this can show people aintegrated and real person.
From this workshop, I learned a lot of information about how to find a job especially for the student like me who study in Marketing major. I think it’s really useful for senior who are struggling to apply company. I think I need to joined more career workshops because it will help me on finding a job in the future.
