Fro Blog#2- The Metropolitan Museum of Art

About two weeks ago, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art with several of my friends that is located on 82nd street. We took the 6 train as usual and get off at 77th street then walked for like 10 minutes to get to the museum. This is my second time visiting this museum but we were still trying to figured out how to get the tickets. After walking around by getting the maps, flyers, and etc., we finally went to the desk that and get our tickets for 5 dollars.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is the most amazing museum in New York City. It has the most diverse historic throughout the entire world which it surprised me. The reason we went to the museum is to complete our history class’s assignment so basically the parts we went to see was according to the requirements from the class. It was the six ancient civilizations which are Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, northern China, Mesoamerica, and the Andes. From the northern China part, I saw a Buddha sculpture and it was huge. As an interesting fact, there was a small standing figure to the Buddha’s right and it represent a youth named Sumedha, who was destined to become the historical Buddha in another lifetime. Furthermore, the imagery if this large Buddha sculpture is therefore intended to illustrate the promise or possibility of enlightenment in a future life. Also, I learned in Buddhism, the achievement of this advanced spiritual state is the goal of all practitioners.

Lastly, the second trip to this museum was fun and amazing. I would go back again to walk through the entire museum all day long if I could. I love those little art paintings and unique sculptures.
