I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art a week ago with a few of my friends. I’ve been here many times before but it was always for school trips, so I didn’t remember much of it. This time my experience was much better than what I remembered. The museum had a wide variety of exhibitions and the ones that I visited were the Greek, Egyptian, European, medieval, and modern arts. The ones I spent the most time in was the European sculptures and Greek art section. What amazed me the most about this exhibit was the heavily decorated rooms in the European exhibit that looked like it came right out of a different time period. There was so much detail to take in everywhere I looked, from the furniture to the wallpaper. Greek art was mainly sculptures of people which was also very detailed. Another exhibit that I really liked was Egyptian art. There were caskets and wall paintings on display. One of the main displays was The Temple of Dendur, where visitors where able to enter the actual structure. I’ve seen pictures of this temple so it was nice to see it in real life. By the time I got to the Egyptian art area, I only had about 15 minutes before closing time so I rushed through the rest of the exhibit to see the temple. Next time when I go back I would definitely spend more time in that section because everything seemed interesting from what I saw. The museum was huge and I spent at least an hour in each exhibit because there was so much art to see. Going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art was a lot of fun and I would be interested in going back on my free time and not just for an assignment.
