For my student activities session, I decided I was going to utilize one of Baruch’s most helpful resources and pay a visit to the Student Tutoring Center. The Student Tutoring Center is located on the second floor in a quiet corner of the building. I really needed help in math since the math course I am currently in is starting to get more challenging as the weeks go on. In order to make an appointment, I had to sign up a day in advance online. There are many slots to choose from since the tutoring center is open for most of the day Mondays through Fridays. I chose a early slot and was paired with a student who was extremely knowledgable of the subject I needed to cover. Each tutoring session is an hour long and completely free! I was so excited to see that there so many student peer tutors around forth just help out. Throughout the hour long session, I was able to get a better grasp of the material as well as meet new students who were friendly and supportive. The Student Tutoring Center has a really serious but fun atmosphere that was extremely engaging but at the same time not intimidating. I found that as the hour went on I was not bored or dozing off but was completely engaged in the material and found it more comfortable to work with a student one on one. The Student Tutoring Center is definitely a part of Baruch that I will continue to utilize. I suggest that everyone visit the Student Tutoring Center because not only is it free, but fun and has a great atmosphere. I have already signed up for an appointment next week with the same tutor and look forward to learning so much more.
