Last Saturday me and my friend, Calvin, decided to go to the Mo MA together. There were a lot of pieces that seemed extremely simple to me, but after discussing them with my friend I realized that the same simple pieces can be interpreted to have a greater meaning. There were many moments when I felt it necessary to read the description about the art piece. Sometimes these small blurbs gave an insight that couldn’t have been found even after discussing the art piece. I especially liked the last level which displayed a history of fashion. One piece we thought was extremely interesting was of a hanging durag. It was entitled “Do-rag” which made both of us laugh because they misnamed the clothing item. At first, I thought maybe I was just spelling it wrong, but after talking to Calvin, an African American male who actually wears a durag, it was confirmed that they spelled it wrong. I also enjoyed the sculpture of the huge spider.
