Last Wednesday I went to a Starr workshop. Although it was my first workshop, it was a apart of a series of workshops for first and second year Baruch students called “Let’s get Starrted”. Its aim is to familiarize students with Starr and the job search program. The workshop I attended was about resumes. They gave out packets about the resume format and talked about key points all resumes should have. Because I am apart of Baruch’s women in business, it’s necessary for me to get my resume checked for me to meet the club’s requirements. I learned about how easy it is to get your resume checked at Starr. After going to that workshop, I updated my resume and then that Thursday went to get my resume checked at Starr. At first, I didn’t really think that my resume needed many revisions but after going to Starr I realized that there was more I could do with my resume. Overall it was very helpful and it was an informative experience.

MoMA
Last Saturday me and my friend, Calvin, decided to go to the Mo MA together. There were a lot of pieces that seemed extremely simple to me, but after discussing them with my friend I realized that the same simple pieces can be interpreted to have a greater meaning. There were many moments when I felt it necessary to read the description about the art piece. Sometimes these small blurbs gave an insight that couldn’t have been found even after discussing the art piece. I especially liked the last level which displayed a history of fashion. One piece we thought was extremely interesting was of a hanging durag. It was entitled “Do-rag” which made both of us laugh because they misnamed the clothing item. At first, I thought maybe I was just spelling it wrong, but after talking to Calvin, an African American male who actually wears a durag, it was confirmed that they spelled it wrong. I also enjoyed the sculpture of the huge spider.
InterVarsity Christian (Student Life Blog)
I have always considered myself a Christian. I was raised in a Christian household, both my parents just happen to be ministers. Although I have always considered myself to be Christian, I didn’t necessarily have a strong relationship with God and my faith until I turned 14. At my high school, Bayside, I was a part of their Seekers Christian club. There I made connections that, I believe, will most definitely be lifelong. When I heard that Baruch had a large selection of clubs, I immediately thought of a Christian club. When I attended the general interest meeting I wasn’t exactly sure if I would join, but after going to one of their small group meetings, I was reminded of the relationships I made in my high school’s Seekers club. I really enjoyed fellowshipping with the members, and I enjoyed having an intense conversation about faith. I look forward to attending the next InterVarsity Christian club meeting.
