Last week, I went to the opening ceremony for Latinx Heritage Month. It was exciting for me because it was my first time attending an event related to Latinx Heritage. At the event, there was loud music that could be heard from the other floors. The music was very upbeat and catchy. There were many Latinx Cultural clubs that were promoting and explaining what they do. There were also many tables that gave out food. I got the chance to try a plate that contained chicken, plantains, and ham. Another table had two kinds of milk: an orange-flavored milk and a chocolate oatmeal milk. I was excited to try it because I’ve never heard of this type of milk. I tried the orange-flavored milk and was pleasantly surprised because it was both sweet and tangy, and kind of rich from the milk. I am glad I went to the event because it was nice seeing so many Latinx there celebrating their culture, and other people, such as myself, learning more about it. Overall, it was a great experience for my first event at Baruch.
