Recently I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Facebook’s headquarters with an old high school teacher and his class. The trip was to get the students thinking about their future careers. The environment was very laid back and relaxed. We got to speak to a few of the employees and they told us what they each do and what the job is like. They told us about the increase in these types of offices as an alternative to the very strict, mundane types. It got me thinking about the type of environment I’d like to work in. I think I’d do much better in a fun somewhat autonomous space. Before we left, they let us all sign the Facebook wall.

The Met
I visited the Met with a few friends. I didn’t go with the intention of finding any certain piece of art or for a school assignment. My art history professor mentions it a lot in class and it piqued my interest. We walked around the different areas of the museum. There were so many beautiful art works. The one in the image is my favorite because it’s just so interesting and I’m curious of what’s being depicted.
Ascend
I was a little hesitant to join Ascend because I thought it was an Asian American club, but the first thing they told us when we were all in the room was that it’s a club open to everyone – whether you’re Asian American or not. It’s a club that supports Pan Asian leadership, but it’s for anyone who wants a connection to corporations and to learn what it takes to become a leader. I enjoyed going to the meeting and talking to new people. I’d like to branch out more and make friends with people I don’t have a class with and going to this club was a great way to do that. I meet people with similar interests as me. The club has four different sections you can join: professional development, treasury, marketing, and technology. I want to join marketing and I’d be able to get closer to the other students in that group and we can bond over our shared love for photoshop and design.
