Freshman Seminar Fall 17 EWA

Ascend

I was a little hesitant to join Ascend because I thought it was an Asian American club, but the first thing they told us when we were all in the room was that it’s a club open to everyone – whether you’re Asian American or not. It’s a club that supports Pan Asian leadership, but it’s for anyone who wants a connection to corporations and to learn what it takes to become a leader. I enjoyed going to the meeting and talking to new people. I’d like to branch out more and make friends with people I don’t have a class with and going to this club was a great way to do that. I meet people with similar interests as me. The club has four different sections you can join: professional development, treasury, marketing, and technology. I want to join marketing and I’d be able to get closer to the other students in that group and we can bond over our shared love for photoshop and design.

  1. That’s good that you want to open your horizons and make new friends because some of your friends that are in your block, you probably won’t talk to in the second semester. Everything should happen naturally and no friendship should feel forced. I must say though, what are your interest, what do you like do? If this isn’t a club that you really don’t want to commit to, find another club. Put your interest first, Reem!
