Career – Blog Post

Like most people do, I was walking through the second floor and saw a NYPD Cadet Corps sign up station. So I walked over and started talking to the officer. I was interested in it because it was paying almost $15 an hour, which to right now would be good. He told me all about and that I was able to work at police departments that were nearby home or I can pick any of the available ones that are most convenient. That was also a bonus on my part, to be close to work from home would be fantastic. Plus they assist you with tuition, which is the best part of all . But unfortunately I need 30 credits, and I’m not even halfway there yet. But next year I will be sure to sign up and possibly start my new job that will help me out with achieving my future career one day

Metropolitan Museum of Art

I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the World War l exhibit. There I followed a tour guide where went in order of time. From pre-war to war time to post war. In the pre-war exhibit we were shown the things that led up to the war and the propaganda that flared it up in the first place. We than went onto the war time. There we saw the the military tactics such as new ways of using trenches and even the materials and weapons that were used during war. Here we also saw more posters that stayed supporting the war effort. After, we than went out to post war. We saw many images and less documents about the consequences and the aftermath of going to war. During this whole tour, I was taking down notes for an extra credit assignment for U.S History. Thanks you for reading.

Blog Post-National Suicide Prevention Week

  • On this day I attended one of the days of the National Suicide Prevention Week at Baruch College. At first glance, they challenged me with a question. The question was,” What were you made for?” In my head, I thought it was in order to fill my older sisters’ loneliness – which my parents told me was the reason. But I knew in reality I was here to make a difference in peoples lives. At least for the people who are around me or the people I surround myself with. At this event I was informed with of what suicide prevention is. Yes, its obvious, but they told me what it meant to them. Which was to prevent the further distress of suicide and the to mitigate the problems that surrounds that specific person. They also offered tips on healthy coping skills. This small event was more of a listening event for bringing awareness to this cause. Here I was simply informed and enlightened of the cause. I also learned on how to get even further involved off campus. Overall it was great.
