I attended a meeting for the Hip Hop 201 club. It was pretty enlightening to see how relaxed and open everyone was. We basically discussed music the whole time and I asked them some questions a freshman would ask. Most of them had a super crazy love for Travis Scott which was awkward because it seemed like all of them liked Travis Scott and were fighting over who likes him more for the majority of the time. It was a great time for me to just unwind and not worry about any tensions of school while I was in school. That’s pretty marvelous to be able to calm your mind and be around other students and not have to think or worry about school or education. They were all very passionate about music and made music themselves which was awesome. I forgot to mention that music was playing the entire time. We also reviewed new music and albums and had what you would call a listening session. We bounced ideas off each other and talked about which artists were coming up in the industry and what the industry is shaping into becoming. I was surprised to see how versatile everyones musical choices were once we finished our 30 minute conversation about Travis Scott. I mean Scott is pretty great but there are a lot of artists out there with originality that are worthy of recognition. We also spoke about upcoming concerts and which event we’d spend our hard earned cash on, or in some our cases, our parent’s cash. This event eased me into feeling comfortable around this new student environment and I felt like a normal student again. The students at the club were all very kind and really just made me feel welcomed. They accepted me and all my opinions and we were able to have good discussions.
