Today I went to the Study Abroad Fair. The overall experience made me excited for the future where I travel the world- this has always been one of my dreams. As I walked around the room, I began to look for places that I wanted to explore. As soon as I found the first table with London, Paris, and Spain, I wanted to know as much as possible so I could learn the requirements, in order to get these opportunities.
However when I went to these tables, the conversation became less about the requirements and more about the experience of living in a foreign country, with a foreign culture. This was the highlight of the fair in my opinion. I spoke with two exchange students from France and they told me the differences they experienced in America regarding university life, social values, and the experience of walking down the street and interacting with people. I also learned, through another conversation with a student that studied in London, that London is similar to the city, except for the fact that it’s cleaner, smaller, and has a reliable transportation system that’s not late- this seems like a dream when it’s compared to New York City.
Attending this fair, just reassured me that I want to study abroad or even intern abroad before I graduate, and knowing all these opportunities I have to do so makes it even more encouraging.
