EY recruitment fair

On Thursday, March 23rd I attended a recruitment fair held by Baruch Consulting  Club. To be honest, I  mainly attended because my friend, whom is a junior, is searching for new career opportunities and had asked me to go with her. Nevertheless, I’m glad I went. The fair was for EY, Earnest and Young, recruitment. The fair was extremely helpful and informational for anyone who is looking to get their foot in the door, career-wise. The leaders of the fair explained how the first moments of your professional life defines the start of an important journey. They explained their values as a company and how their values define who they are. Furthermore, they went on to elaborate on their “Better beings with you” program, which enables the company to recognize and celebrate individuals and teams who work for their company. The recruitment fair was aimed for people who are searching for a job, yet was interesting to me even though I do not plan on searching for a job for some time. Overall, this recruitment fair explained mainly what the life of a worker would look like for EY and the core values of their company. I learned a lot about what my future recruitment journey will look like.

Monologue

Spring

The Spring earth is so warm.

So beautiful.

The sun is shining

and the children are playing.

Yet I am the flower

struggling to bloom.

While the world around is flourishing,

I am as weak and as fragile

as the damaged ground below me.

Lord, give me the strength

to blossom

this Spring.

The Rubin Museum of Art

Hey guys, I hope everyone’s semester is going well and no one is stressing too much! So last week I went to the Rubin Museum of art. All of your posts inspired me to go and I’m so happy I did! The Rubin Museum of Art primarily showcases art and ideas of the Himalayas, India, and surrounding regions. The museum itself was interesting along with being entertaining, and I can surely say that I enjoyed myself the entire time of being there, engaging in their many programs such as films, concerts, and on-stage conversations.
Because I attended the museum a week ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to see the Genesis Breyer P-Orridge exhibit. This exhibit recently opened, and is absolutely beautiful. I also really enjoyed the exhibition on Buddhist iconography and the multiples photos of India taken by Steven McCurry.

Greece, here I come!

I attended the Study Abroad fair. Going into college, I always knew that more than anything I wanted to study abroad. My sister studied abroad in  Rome 2 semesters ago and says it was the best 4 months of her life. I have such a passion for different cultures, and I have always felt that my one calling in life is to travel.

The fair I attended informed me that CUNY offers 166 programs in 51 countries. There are three different types of study abroad programs that CUNY offers; faculty-led programs, exchange programs, and affiliated programs. Though I would really love to get the opportunity to partake in either the exchange or affiliated programs which are both semester long programs, I know that realistically, a faculty-led program would better suit my academic plan. A faculty-led program is one that takes place usually over winter or summer break and is typically only a few weeks. The fair I attended had the Greece Study Abroad flyer that they were handing out for people interested in a 2016 summer study abroad trip. Out of all of the programs discussed at the fair, I found myself especially enthralled with this one. Not only did it fit into my ideal of a summer program that didn’t really interfere with school, but also I have always had the itch to go to Greece.

This program offers students the chance to study at the American College of Thessaloniki. There, they offer a variety of classes that one may take as well as opportunities to submerge themselves into the Greek culture. During the summer program, a student would receive 3 or 6 credits. More so, due to the rift in credits one could take, the price of the trip varies.

I am extremely excited to start thinking about my study abroad opportunities in the years to come! Because I am only a first year student, I know that there is no rush. If I do not go to Greece this summer, I hope to get the chance to study abroad in the upcoming years!
