Last week, I went to the Rubin Museum. It was a nice trip by spending only a few hours to enjoy the wonderful beauty of art. Art can always offer you a chance to escape from the daily world to a realm of abstract beauty. The exhibition of last week was Gateway to Himalayan Art which was about Hindu and Buddhist works of art. Before I went to there, when people talk about Hinduism and Buddhism, I would always relate them to some superstitions. When I was in the museum, I marveled the extraordinarily exquisite art works. The artists used numerous intricate techniques to symbols and gestures. This picture shows above is one of my favorite arts. The artist put many details in this painting, and it is visually symmetry from the left side to the right side. I believe behind this painting, it must have many legacy stories. I love this museum. If you are feeling tired to the daily work, this museum will be a good choice to relax yourself and appreciate the beauty of art.

Writing Workshop

The Madness of Solomon Wright
I attended a Baruch Play from the 18th to the 30th called “The Madness of Solomon Wright”. My friend brought me along to watch this play because he was friends with the cast members. To be honest, I did not expect the play to be good, but my expectations were wrong. The school club that produced it (“Exit stage left”) did an amazing job. The back story is that there are a bunch of people in a cult and Solomon Wright is the leader of the cult who can talk to the gods. Everyone in the village is brainwashed because they grew up in the village where the messenger (Solomon) is a schizophrenic psychopath who kills people and rapes them. Two elders try to keep Solomon alive and cover for his actions because he has rights passed to him with 400 million dollars from his family. They need him to sign a will to pass his wealth to him. One of the villagers finds out about this plan, and near the end of the play, she gets lobotomized for her efforts to stop them and the cult continues on.
workshop!! :)
Hello friends and family! I hope you are having a happy almost Friday! 🙂 Since the big move, I am happy that things are starting to feel normal! ( whatever it means haha) again. I was looking through some recent workshops at Writing Center and I found one about close reading. I am from Poland (Europe) and English is my second language. So I am struggling with language everyday. I thought it would be a splendid opportunity to improve my text analyzing by attending this workshop. During activities I learned how to notice patterns and important ideas. When you are in doubt whether go or not to one of the workshops the answer is GO! Do not feel like it is wasting of time. It really helps!
Until the next time, XOXO
BEAUTY OF ART

NAME: TABASSUM MAISHA
I forgot how beautiful art exhibitions could be. Overtime, studies and homework overtook me until I drowned in then. Until one day, when I decided to leave all my worries at my doorstep and went out, with no destination in mind, until I saw myself at the doorstep of The Sydney Mishkin Gallery. Dr. Sandra Kraskin is the director of this amazing gallery at Baruch College. The art exhibition was by the artist Ellen K. Levy.
Ellen K. Levy is a New York based artist who is completing a PhD of artists involved with science and technology at the Zurich Node of the Planetary Collegium (Z-Node), in collaboration with the University of Plymouth in Plymouth, England. Her works of art are fantastic and unusual. Overall, I had a really fun time at the museum and it was very enlightening.
